As per the new extras cumplane’s bodies are actually in comas and not dead meaning the punishment of going back to your world was never a real punishment. This doesn’t necessary mean they would go back to their original selves if they died outright instead of just ignored the system but for the sake of this au lets say they do.
So sy self-destructs but the messing about with the plant bodies xf did that was meant to speed up production killed it instead. So instead of a waking up in a cave, he wakes up at a hospital, back in modern times with his family.
Which is great, except for him it’s been 5/6 years, and for everybody else it’s been like. Half a day. So he started to forget mundane facts about people he never thought he’d see again. And also he never let himself grieve that so now he has to deal with the relief that comes from seeing them again even when he never processed it. Also he got used to being in a different body so he’s forgotten how he used to hold himself, or how tall he was. Or the limits of a body not cultivated to immortality. (The only plus is that he doesn’t have to mourn the loss of immortality cause he always knew he was going to be killed by lb anyway).
Also. He can’t prove any of what happened actually happened. The only other person who could prove it was real via shared memories is Shang Qinghua. So now he has to
A) readjust to life in the modern world,
B) not mourn Lou binghe (for real this time he’ll like for real never see him again. Whatever.) (we’re far enough in the timeline that he might for real actually be in love with him) (he has to just hope that self destructing helped him heal)
C) find Shang. (This was actually easy, by a stoke of luck there’s a guy in the same hospital who suffered electrical burns and who’s name, Xiang Fei, could be turned into an airplane pun) (unlucky this guy is objectively hot so that maybe throws some doubts onto the xf = sq theory) (he still brings him up to the same ward, and gets made fun of by his meimei for bringing home strays again)
D) maybe the worst task of all. Hope xf wakes up. Which means hoping he dies or the system punishes him. So that’s a weird hope. Also he knows it goes against xf weasly self-serving nature to die. Which would be fine cause eventually everyone dies it might just take some time. Expect xf cultivated immortality so fuck.
On the flip side. Xf is stuck in hell. He accidentally fucked yo the plant bodies effectively killing his only actual friend he’s had in decades. His king is getting more aggressive as the northern politics gets caught up the bullshit happening in the mortal realm. The sect is fucked. The sect leader is in mourning. Lqq is engaging in daily fights with a heavily demon over his friend’s body. Oh yeah did he mention the protagonist is keeping his friend’s body in stasis.
Now of course xf isn’t going to actually do anything about this, survival comes before all else so he’s staying the fuck out of everyone’s way. But sy was the one who knew the story inside out so he’s lost his walking wiki. And also even though he wrote this. It’s way fucking off script. He can’t actually plan for anything because he no longer knows what’s going to happen yet.
I imagine he fucks off and tries to stay out of the protagonists way. But ultimately without sy (if I’m remembering this right) lb has no motivation to even try and stop tlj and zzl. So the end of the world happens and for the sake of this au xf gets caught up in it.
So xf wakes up (yay!) to sy (who’s so relieved to find out that yes this is airplane and yes that all did happen) and has to recount everything that happened after sy killed himself (he would have gotten hit for fucking up the plant bodies if having a fan in the modern day wasn’t weird).
This leads to the actual juice of the au which is two people who refuse to process anything have to try and get over the people they were maybe not filling in love with but at least liked. Having to get over tramua of dying. Xf is so fucking old now but also he’s 27 again. He maybe has to finish pidw but man how the fuck does he do that when he saw lb cradling sqq’s body. Sy doesn’t have to come to terms with being gay but might have to anyway cause like fuck is he letting airplane out of his sight.
The dynamic now is two tramua-bonded co-dependant idiots who just keep looking at eachother and letting them get away with the stupid shit they say it believe.
You could have this be platonic but I’ve been leading this to cumplane this whole time.
