Blue Wizards headcanons
According to the Unfinished Tales, Alatar was sent by Orome to Middle Earth to help in the war against Sauron, and he took Pallando as a friend. So he must've really wanted Pallando along - which I find really interesting. The others went because their Vala wanted them to go, or they wanted to go themselves - but Pallando went specifically for Alatar.
And they went into the EAST. I mean, to blend in, Gandalf and Saruman and Radagast took forms looking like old men, right? So, just saying - if Alatar and Pallando took forms of old white men, they would not blend in, in the east of Middle Earth. So I would think they didn't. Just throwing that out there.
They went to fight Sauron...but Sauron gained a pretty solid foothold on the east, and we don't hear anything about Alatar and Pallando...kind of ever again. So I'm guessing it went badly. My headcanon is that Alatar collected a large following, to resist Sauron, while Pallando's people were more subtle - he was more of the kind of hunter who lies in wait and sets traps, while Alatar was more of the ride down the prey with hounds school of thought. I even wrote a fic about some of Pallando's spy network in Umbar.
Gradually, Alatar's people started to revere him more and more, until what he had was starting to uncomfortably resemble the cult that Sauron himself had built up (at least, it was to Pallando). He confronted his friend, but Alatar wasn't swayed. Their relationship deteriorated, and ended extremely messily.
