Hii. Hope you are doing well. I just wanted some advice. I think it's very naive to ask though, but still I will. 😂
Advice on how to schedule writing fics. Or what's your writing pattern? Also any tips on how do you write chapters of many stories together?
It's like you've lots of plot running around your mind, and you think - oh I'm sure gonna pen this down into a story. But then all the prev wips just stare and say - oh baby, you promised us the same. XD... I struggle with multi-chap things. Like it's easier to get over with one-shots. But the problem I face is I can only focus on one story at a time. Until and unless I finish what I'm working on, I can't start writing on other, no matter how much the idea for next story haunt me 😂
So any tips on how to manage writing along with your life and other stuffs.
First off, @airashisakura I am SO sorry that it took me a million years to answer this. RIP me and my horrible correspondence skills.
Second, I am like the worst person in the world to ask for advice about managing a story schedule. If you look at how my WIPs I have across all the fandoms I write for, it's ridiculous. Because I have the opposite issue you do. My brain jumps from story to story so frequently, and my streaks of inspiration are so aggressive, that I have a very hard time focusing on one project at a time.
"But then all the prev wips just stare and say - oh baby, you promised us the same."
I cannot overemphasize how relatable this is lmao. Only, unlike you, I find it difficult to combat the desire to start something new.
In the last few months, I've knocked out some long-running WIPs (Asking Price and Louder than Words), and over the last year I've made significant progress on other WIPs, which I hope to continue moving forward. So I'm trying to improve my habits for the sake of my readers, but it's a real challenge.
My writing pattern is quite erratic, and I do NOT recommend that. I see your ability to focus on one project all the way through to its conclusion as a strength, not a weakness.
As far as how I manage writing while keeping my life in order... I'm also very bad at that. When I'm in my writing zone, I often ignore my real-life needs. I frequently go on writing binges and forget to eat all day. Obviously, I don't recommend that either.
The only thing I think I'm fit to give advice on is how to write chapters of many stories together, should you ever find yourself in that position after all. And the answer there is actually very simple and common: OUTLINE. Outline outline outline. When you have multiple WIPs, it's essential to write down what you're planning. Because if you jump from Project A to Project C to Project F to Project B, then back to A again, you probably won't remember where you intended to go with A. To keep your stories straight and on some kind of consistent, narratively satisfying path, you need to record your ideas as soon as you have them.
Thanks for sending this ask! I'm sorry I made you wait so long for suck a worthless answer ffffsss
