It’s only been a few weeks since her family relocated here, but already Anastasia’s making a name for herself at school, much at the behest of her elder sisters. She’s always been a troublesome, mischievous child ( Olga once joked she’d been adopted ), and, really, it’s a miracle she hasn’t gotten detention yet.
Most of her teachers have tried to give her the benefit of the doubt; chalking up her theatrical behaviour to a rough transitioning period that will eventually pass once she’s settled. It’s Mr. Vernon, however, that seems perfectly at ease to lump her in with the rest of the “bad eggs” at school. Some people just don’t appreciate her sense of humour. Which is fine. It just gives her less of an excuse to be sorry about antagonising him. He’s a jerk anyway--- he’d left a pretty cutthroat critique on one of her essays, of which she’s now staring at as she leaves his classroom.
