Guiding light
My entry for the FanFest EU 2023 art contest! I had the idea somewhere in my mind ever since I finished Endwalker... wanted to show the winding journey through the Aitiascope dungeon
I made it as a finalist, which I'm still so blown away and happy about...
During Pandaemonium...
C'oretta: "Would."
Aeryn: "Huh? Would what? What's that mean?"
(gotta give her a minute)
Aeryn: "All right, putting aside they're currently aether ghosts, you know Themis is Elidibus."
C'oretta: "Yeah but this before he became the Heart of Zodiark and went all crazy depressed and lost his memories after millennia so we can't really hold that against Themis and also Erichthonios is just a sweetie and super cute and after everything both his parents put him through he totally deserved some comfort right and frankly still does cuz wow Athena's the worst but also he gets to be the younger hotter sweeter version of his dad which he's old and that would probably upset Thancred but Erichthonios is fair game."
Aeryn: "This is why I have to delay introducing you to new allies, you know."
C'oretta: *Gasps in Ul'dahn*
Erichthonios: "What are they going on about over there?"
Themis: "Perhaps better that we don't know."
(C'oretta's finishing off Panda. While only Aeryn has access to the First and Elpis, part 3 let all her friends join the adventure. And C'oretta is...C'oretta.)
Thinking over some Ilberd posts I've seen recently, and realizing that with him in mini-boss form serving as the introduction to the dungeon's story, Aitiascope begins and ends with characters whose plans went exactly as they intended, who got exactly what they believed they truly wanted, but were left eternally unsatisfied.
With the two bosses in the middle being characters who let their love and devotion lead them to their doom. (Arguably including all WoL's friends and allies who turn up to help them reach the end.)
And finally concluding in Hydaelyn, whose plan is now finally coming to fruition exactly as she intended, and like Ilberd and Amon, its conclusion requires her own demise.
Which, I guess, suggests that WoL and the Scions are still letting their love and devotion lead them to their doom. Which. Actually is true, since all of them die in Ultima Thule.
memory takes form
So, you mean: Life is a party and they’re the pinata, right?
yall ever think about the aitiascope and how it goes into the aetherial sea and how it's just sitting there? You think your WoL ever goes down there just to hang out, regardless of the dangers? Just to maybe feel the closeness of people they've had to lose, to know they're okay there? I've been thinking about this for days and I 100% think A'miru makes regular trips down there regardless of how much trouble she gets into for it, not frequently but regularly, like a small holiday, a day of remembrance type of thing, once a month or so.
Reunion: Start of Chapter 3
After some convincing of the wary Forum of Sharlayan, S'talia and Zenos have been gifted permission into the aetherial sea where they hope to find the soul of the Empress.
Introductions are most certainly in order.
