I’ve had a thought about Cataclysmic Swap Flow and I’ve encountered accidental perfection.
So I said it’s a Bernese Mountain Dog, right? Well, even if it was the max 100-110 lbs the breed can reach, it probably wouldn’t be great for it to have Vida riding on its back, especially when they get bigger.
But you know what Berners are bred for?
Pulling carts.
Vida just has a little cart Flow can pull around. They probably had to make a special harness for it that isn’t getting in the way of its mutated body, but I’m now picturing Vida being pulled around and Flow’s just trotting after Puzzle with its tail wagging. Bonus points if it also carries shit for them.
I reminded myself somehow that I watched the Avatar movies like a month ago, and I now want there to be at least one version of Mal that saw the Avatar movies and (at least temporarily) made Flow into a thanator/palulukan. just cool-looking six-legged thing.
Last doodle of the night and it’s the best mutated doggo(s?) in the Cataclysm:
Considering Flow being a perfectly normal looking wolf thing when Mal was a kid. Sure it was made of ink but it was proportioned correctly for what it was supposed to be.
And then at some point further down the line when Mal is actually being put in danger, they adjust the form of it to include the extra two limbs, which are mostly just claws. They can be extra paws too but mostly for claws.
Random Things About The AITRPFT? Kids That Probably Won't Come Up But I Need To Write Them Down
Nova hates Mac n cheese. Not the taste, which is fine, but... the sound when it's stirred makes him want to rip his ears off. Which is just fabulous because it's one of Mal's safe foods. This leads to Mal texting him and Blue with a "Macaroni Warning" so he knows to avoid the kitchen for like 20-30 minutes. They still do this occasionally even when Nova's staying with his bio dads (post reveal) and reasonably doesn't have to worry about it. He still appreciates the heads-up.
Nova also doesn't like blue skies; he grew up in OuterTale where there's like the whole universe visible 24/7, and when he sees a blue sky for the first time he's just like "...where's the rest of it?" He doesn't refuse to go places with a non-OuterTale sky, it just looks depressing to him. Night skies are slightly better, but he still highly prefers home. Mal doesn't care as much, but they also prefer OuterTale sky to blue skies.
Flow carries no allergens! And as a magical construct is basically allowed to go anywhere Mal does so long as it isn't causing chaos everywhere. Which it usually isn't. Unless Mal's in a mischievous mood.
Ruby learned how to sew because she wanted to make her own costumes (a lot of the ones in their drama club are designed for human body plans, which... usually doesn't include a tail). Nova knows a little bit because he's helped her before, but she is not trusting him with a project from start to finish by himself
If Mal focuses, they can see and hear what Flow can; they don't do this often as it's a fast way to get overstimulated (sometimes their own senses overlap with it, leading to sounds/sights "doubling up") but it's a Thing
Mal can glitch through solid objects (such as walls) but as far as they can tell they can't glitch into a solid object. Which is good because sometimes they glitch and teleport short distances when they're stressed and getting stuck in something probably won't help.
Blue has actually lost Mal in public several times due to them glitching out of sight. Thankfully Flow a) doesn't teleport with them and b) always knows where they are, so if it's summoned (which is often) then it will lead him right to Mal.
