The mistake of youth (Dottore x Sohreh fanart)

Long time no see. Returning with new (very flirty) DottoSohreh piece! In this version I tried to draw Zandik's official Akademiya attire from the latest Sumeru event. I went a bit whimsical about shading clothing here, but I really like the result. One important note is that Sohreh here is inspired by Kieru's design in Stairway to Heaven animation.

It's 🍵 Anon time! After all the lovely shenanigans with Caelus!MC/Phanes!MC and his wonderful growing family, it's time to pan our attention to great grandpa Aether who is up far earlier than in canon.

When Aether woke up, he didn't know where he was. He remembered what had happened with that unknown god, the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles she had called herself, but all he knew was that he was stuck on Teyvat.

After stretching, Aether goes wandering. He finds himself in Sumeru before long and decides he needs to find work anyway. So, he decides to accentuate the strands of dark grey in his hair that his children inherited from him, nabs some forgotten cloth to make himself some clothes that won't make him stand out, and also brings out some reading glasses that have a lovely eyeglass chain (made for him by his daughter) to put on.

Once he has his look complete, he goes looking for work. People mistake him for a scholarly person though and so recommend him to the Akademiya. Aether is a little bit judgy as he twirls his eyeglass chain and goes through the interview, noting that something doesn't feel completely right.

Somehow, Aether meets all the qualifications to teach (despite absolutely bullshiting and improvising) and so he's given the job to teach. First step, reviewing the material he'll be teaching. He absorbs the information pretty quickly and has just enough confidence not to blow it.

When he walks into his first class of the day, all of the students are gossiping. He gets their attention by snapping his fingers and speaking.

"Alright, all of you shut your mouths. I'm not going to speak twice when I say this, so I expect everyone's attention."

Once he's certain that his class is paying attention, Aether speaks calmly, setting what he doesn't need on hand immediately down before he speaks to his class.

"My name is Aether Viator. During our time together, I expect to be referred to properly as Professor Viator. I am not here to be your friend or your confidant in personal matters. All I care about is how you do in my class."

He is silent for a good long while, letting them soak in his words.

"Good. It looks like you all understand what I'm saying. Also, understand that as a Beta, I can't smell you all, but I can easily smell hormones from a mile away being a father of two. I want none of that in my class, so if you have urges, take them outside my class."

The class chuckles nervously, but Aether has said his piece regarding his introduction.

"Now that I've introduced myself, it's time to get started with our first lesson. Today we'll be exploring the concepts of..."

And so Aether begins his first lesson on scientific concepts. He's not easily annoyed when his students ask a lot of questions (having a lot of patience), but there are times when even he has his hard limits. Speaking calmly, he answers every question and finishes his lecture when time is up.

"That is all for today. If you have any extra questions related to the first lecture, please come speak with me."

Many of his students are eager to get out. Not a surprise, really. He was expecting most of them to run. Aether sits at his desk calmly, thinking about how boring it's all going to be when he's suddenly approached.

"Professor Viator?"

Aether opens one eye to look at the only student who hasn't fled the room. It's a young man with light blue hair and red eyes.

"May I ask you a question?"

"You are already asking me a question."

The student laughs, making Aether smile as he chuckles.

"In all seriousness, what did you wish to speak about?"

The student places a series of papers before Aether and starts talking in great detail about each piece of the greater whole. Aether listens calmly, politely interjecting to add new ideas on occasion and also pointing out some things that would fit better in a certain pattern.

It's definitely not something that the Akademiya would approve of, but Aether is far older, far more experienced, and far more competent than people that just start who barely know what they're teaching without a guideline. By the end of his talk, the student seems amused.

"Is this really your first time teaching, Professor?"

"In an institution? Yes."

"Most of what you've said—"

"Our little secret. I can trust you not to tell anyone what I've told you, yes?"

"... Mm. Very well, Professor Viator. I'll keep that in mind."

The student starts to leave, but Aether remembers something.

"Oh, before you go, do tell me your name. I'd hate to not know the student with such an inquisitive mind."

The student pauses and looks at Aether weirdly while he meets the gaze of the student calmly. It takes a while before he is given a reply.

"... Zandik. My name is Zandik."

"Zandik, hm? I will remember that. You may leave now."

Aether watches Zandik go, playing with his eyeglass chain. Students like him thirst for knowledge the most. Aether can't help but chuckle.

Zandik is sure to be interesting.

Aether met Zandik?! Akademiya Zandik?! Oh. Oh this should get real interesting... maybe Aether can change Zandik's fate, maybe he won't. Either way, both had each other's attention now.
