He doesn’t bother knocking before he wheels himself into the hospital room. The patient he expects to be lying on the bed is, surprisingly, sitting up and conscious instead.

‘Shouldn’t you be resting?’

‘I thought you liked to sleep.’

He reaches for the clipboard in his lap--misses it the first time, then fumbles into a grip by the second. No worries, he’s all good.
