Dolly started off her 2026 with some Qs! We had an off day on Saturday and while we had some really fun runs, we didn’t earn any Qs. Today, Sunday, she earned her first Qs in Open FAST P and Excellent JWW P. Such a good girlie! We came close to a Q in Excellent Standard P but missed the weave pole entry. Fun and challenging courses!
Mud finished the Novice titles!!!! No more 20" jumps for him!!! No more AKC trials for me!!! (For now. Who knows what future dogs will bring.) One Q on each day. He got to try Open Standard out.
Yesterday ran really long. We didn't get out until like...4:30. They recommended Novice and Open arrive at 10:30. 🙃 I got there before 9:00 because I wanted to see the shelties in conformation.
On that note, I got to pet some shelties. I liked the dog that won BOB yesterday. She's only 14 months, but her face reminds me a lot of Truly and I got to hold her for her breeder back in September. She wanted lots of attention and was super sweet. I also donated some stuff to the raffle the club is having at their specialty next week and got my club membership application in. This is part of my very slow attempts at networking for next dog.
Mud is so good about following handling now, that sometimes his "here" verbal is too much. We really need more practice so I can suss out what means what. I was a lot more cautious/clunky in my handling since I wanted the Qs. I was not into it, lol. I also felt like I had to do a lot more "late" handling than I would normally because I wanted to give Mud straighter/longer approaches to jumps and he also doesn't commit as easily so I had to "wait" for that as well.
I feel bad that weaves are so hard for him. :( He couldn't maintain 12 weaves on the first try and both attempts had funky footwork. His 6 sets were 🔥 So I think it's more a stamina/strength thing. I also know that's one of those things that if he's not feeling 100 percent, you don't get a good performance.
He was more crabby than usual today. I'm thinking he was still tired from yesterday. I'm thinking this might mean we should stick to 1 day a weekend. Which is probably better for his body anyway. I don't think he was sore, which would actually be my first thought, but he moved well and I had given carprofen (as a precaution).
The environment/vibe of AKC events still doesn't do anything for me. This is all sports with scent work as an exception (so far). My mom was really not into it either and said she's done with it now that Sasha has finished her RN. I'm going to be bouncing once Mud finishes his CD. Hopefully that will be this fall.
Just signed Forte and I up for two ACT 1 Standard and two ACT 1 Jumpers runs on March 5th.
I am going to try not to have any expectations beyond learning and having fun. (But I'm still nervous.)
im super excited, Apollo and i are trialing today in an ACT agility event. we did this once before, only ran in 2 rounds of ACT1 and only Qed in one round (you need two Qs to title). today we're running in 2 rounds of ACT1 and ACT2. im pretty confident about it, we could even win 1st place prize in one bc theres not many dogs and hes fastfastfaaasst. we may fumble in ACT2 though bc of weaves, hes pretty good at heelside but one of the ACT2 rounds has offside weaves and we're not very good at that yet but fingers crossed! wish us luck! ill be posting updates throughout

5/10 Q rate for her this weekend. Lots to think about had some less than smooth courses that is going to give us stuff to work on. I’ll recap later.
We had a great weekend at Agility! TWO QQ's this weekend!! YAY! That puts us at QQ #5 of 20! Django was a bit slow this weekend but was a great listener. Well, except at our FAST run... which is a hilarious bonus video at the end. Make sure to watch this one to the end... ;)
So happy to announce that Django got his MXJ (Master Excellent Jumpers With Weaves) Title today!!
We also got our OF (Open FAST) Title on Saturday as well!
Today we also got our 2nd QQ... which is one tenth of the way to our MACH (Championship) title (haha)! Some way to go for that but I am SUPER proud of my little mutt boy! He did so well this weekend!

Agility video from the weekend! Be prepared for the horribly awful Standard run second in the video... We started off a little haphazard with a flubbed Standard run, but it must've gotten the crazies out of Django's system as the rest of the weekend was 4 for 4 Q's! On Sunday we got our second ever QQ, AND got the final Q needed for our MXJ title!! Wowza! So proud of my boy! Some fun and great courses this weekend, had a blast!
