From our trip - hiking with another person who my dogs are following but I stopped without saying anything to see how long it would take for Forte to come back for me. Clip is edited for time lapse but it only took somewhere between 30 and 45 seconds.

On Wednesdays we run agility
Ready for some unrestrained summer fun.
Been practicing priority training in regards to tasks with Forte. We're specifically polishing up handling two tasks and him understanding which one priority in the moment.
Two things Forte is task trained for are sighted guide to my car and retrieving my keys if I drop them. In the beginning I verbally cued him to get the keys mid guide. He's since gotten to the point of stopping to get the keys when he hears them drop without prompting from me.
It's sometimes a little awkward since his turning back can spin me if I don't let go of the pull strap. But overall I'm really happy with how attentive he is and understanding which task to prioritize. He really is such a good boy and dedicated to his job.

Work has been crazy stressful so here's a little clip of having fun with Forte. He's such an enthusiastic ray of sunshine.
I find it so uncomfortable how much invasive technology has been normalized.

I love that they’re buddies. They did this for a third of the walk.
Faye can be passed out upstairs but if she hears me playing with Forte downstairs, no matter how quietly, she'll come flying down to scold us.
A heartfelt reminder to please keep dogs in vehicles safely restrained. I know someone personally who was just in a very bad wreck. Thankfully everyone was able to walk away from it with only minor injuries. The vehicle is totalled/mangled to the pointed of completely being unable to be driven or limped along.
It involved a car suddenly and without warning stopping on the highway (the driver at fault was on illegal substances) and unfortunately the person I know was not able to stop in time to avoid collision. The people were kept safe by air bags, seatbelts, and a modern crumple zone. The dogs were kept safe with Ruffland crates. Without those safety measures, there would have been multiple deaths.
Beings not safely restrained in vehicles become projectiles that do not survive. Ask me how I know, but only if you're okay with a tale of young love cut violently short.
Either way, my point remains. An arm across the chest of a person or animal is not enough, no matter how fast or strong you are. Proper restraints are vital because you never really know what you'll encounter, no matter how cautious you are being.
