In Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Aki Ross's 60,000 hair strands required 1.5 hours to render each frame, according to the Final Fantasy Wiki. The film's production spent 20% of its total time on Aki's hair alone, according to an MIT study. This was achieved using a render farm consisting of 960 Pentium III-933 MHz workstations.

People are talking about Tilly Norwood and I'm reminded of Aki Ross from Final Fantasy The Spirits Within and the plans to have this "first CGI actress" in multiple projects and usher in a new age.

Then the movie bombed, the studio closed and Aki Ross got scrapped.

i saw some news story about an ai actress and I fucking yearn for the days when these types of weird scams at least had an artistic flourish to it

Say what you want about Aki Ross, but at least that digital actress was handcrafted by humans and NOT prompted with AI. She was also voiced by an actual human being (Ming-Na Wen) and didn't use an AI voice.
