karou kanzaki had learned to keep his head down. people always said something about his eyes. too intense. too cold. sometimes he believed them. sometimes it hurt more than he let on.
he was nervous to meet you. not that he’d admit it. but when you walked up and smiled, he braced himself for the usual awkward glance or quiet judgment.
instead, you looked right into his eyes. you didn’t flinch. you didn’t look away. you tilted your head slightly and said, “woahh your eyes are beautiful.”
just like that.
karou felt his chest tighten. his lips parted like he might say something but nothing came out. he lowered his gaze, not to hide, just to breathe.
no one had ever said that before. not like they meant it. not like you did.

Kaoru Kanzaki
He was distracted watching anime when you decided on your attack.
At first, it wasn’t meant to be an attack. He was watching anime, you were watching him. A little too long. His cheekbones, the baby fat that was still in his cheeks. You reached over to cup his face, only to feel his smooth skin under your palm. He looked at you sideways but didn’t comment on the action.
When you saw that he didn’t try to stop you, it awakened the urge in you to see how far you could go. That and the fact that he just looked so cute, concentrated on the anime. His brows were slightly furrowed as he watched, his lips a little pursed. “What are you thinking about?” You asked, your hands still on his face. “I’m trying to make sense of the power system. It makes sense but I think I got lost after they explained how En works, I honestly understand now why everybody was saying that the Nen system is complicated.” He explained, his eyes trained on the TV in an effort to not miss anything that happened. You giggled. When you had first began watching Hunter x Hunter, you had told yourself you were there for the fun not to understand everything that happened. Watching him trying to understand every little detail in the anime he watched was amusing and so cute. Sometimes he even whipped out his phone in the middle of an episode, just to google details about the anime.
You laughed. “You’re so cute, Kaoru.” You spoke, squishing his cheeks together. “What are you doing?” He asked, defenselessly surrendering himself to you. “Cuddling my boyfriend?” You grinned. You let off and instead gently traced over his scars. “I can’t see anything with your hands on my eyes.” The boy muttered. “I don’t mind.” You responded, and he raised his eyebrows. “I do, though.” “I know you don’t actually.” You teased him and pinched his cheek playfully. “Hey-!” You pinched him again. “That hurts, stop.” He attempted to protest, but he wasn’t getting anywhere anymore at this point. “You’re just too cute!” You seized the baby fat between your pointer and thumb, squeezing his cheek like a grandmother would with her grand kid during family reunions. “Stop-!” he began grabbing for your wrists in an attempt to fight you off, but you quickly took the chance to lodge your hand under his shirt and tickle his side.
He flinched sideways and broke out into laughter that you used to continue squeezing his cheeks. “God, you’re actually worse than my sister when she does this shit.” He snorted with laughter. “Don’t lie. I had a long debriefing with Hikaru about your childhood. That girl tortured you.” You returned, and he laughed even harder. Finally, you ducked your head down to his and pressed kisses all over his face, keeping his wrists in your hands. Although, this time, he just smiled, his eyes crinkled. “You’re gonna make me miss the entire episode.” He commented between kisses. “You can rewind it.”
Mogari Shishikuno
You’ve been in bed for the past few hours. You were half on top of him, both of you scrolling on your phones, basking in each other’s presence. From time to time, you tried listening to the audios coming from Mogari’s phone, but you always gave up quickly. The guy was neck deep into brainrot that you hadn’t even heard about once. He’s also been going on about Italian brainrot the entire time. It’s kind of funny though, you considered buying him a shirt with Ballerina Capuccina for his birthday. You were sure he’d love it.
Suddenly, he nudged you, which was more of a full body shake, considering he was underneath you. “Hey.” He spoke. “What’s up?” You twisted, a little uncomfortably, to look at him. “You know that trend where the boyfriend lifts his girlfriend on his shoulder? Let’s do that.” He said, all too casual sounding.
You stared at him. It was a trend you’ve been thinking about doing. Knowing he had considered, too, made your chest swell. He was so endearing. “Aww Mogari, you cutie!” You mustered in your most annoying cartoony voice. Nevertheless, you were touched. You wrapped your arms around his neck, squeezing him tightly. “Heyyy, you’re suffocating me!” He protested, but you didn’t care. You drove a hand through his hair, swiping his bangs out of his face and planting intentionally wet kisses on his cheeks and forehead.
“You’re slobbering all over me-! You’re gonna pay for that.” You suddenly stilled when you felt his teeth in the crook of your neck. A gasp escaped you. “Mogari!” “Told ya, you’d pay.”
Tamon Kotaro
Tamon doesn’t play his guitar very often. Especially not lately, even though he was really good at it. So when he’d told you to “Hold on, I want to show you something." and had slithered out from underneath you to grab the guitar that was displayed in a corner of his room, you’d been quite surprised.
“What are you doing?” You asked, watching from the couch how he set himself up on his chair. “I made something, uhm…” He dug out a piece of paper and placed it before him. “What’s that?” You righted yourself. He laughed nervously and looked up at you innocently. He was so cute sometimes. “I wrote a song.” He finally said, the smile still evident on his face. You felt your own light up at the revelation. “You did? Omg, show me!” You grinned and leaned back. “It’s like… uhm.. so..” Tamon stuttered, suddenly sheepishly embarrassed again.
You knew Tamon. He wasn’t the type to get embarrassed like this very easily, mainly because he was often too dense to read social clues enough to even get embarrassed in the first place. So whenever he did get like this, it was either something ridiculously small or really big.
“C’mon just spit it out, Tamon!” You urged. He never chokes up around you. “It’s a love song.” He finally spoke. A pause. Then he flushed from head to toe. You sucked in a breath. “A love song? For me?” He nodded. “Oh my god, Tamon!” You shot off the couch and planted a kiss on his lips. “You’re so adorable, Tamon.” You teased a little as you pinched his cheeks and squeezed them. He simply accepted it with a little smile, just like he always did whenever you cuddled him.
Eugene Koreshiki
He had insisted he’d stay with you even though you weren’t feeling well. Usually being on your period meant telling everyone to keep the energy down for a week but Eugene had flat out refused to leave your apartment, telling you that he wouldn’t leave you alone when you were on your period.
He had brought and refilled your hot water bag at least five times by now, had gone out to the store to buy chocolate and some more pads and had cuddled with you and put on a romance movie. By the point where he had changed into his pyjamas, you knew you had picked the best and cutest boyfriend on this earth.
You watched him enter your room again, untying his hair. “You know my parents won't allow you to sleep in the same room as me, don’t you?” You chuckled. “Yeah, I already set up some blankets and pillows on the couch in the living room.” He spoke as he let himself fall down on the bed next to you. He had opened his ponytail but kept the bangs clipped up. You laughed. “You really don’t need to go that far. It’s not like I’m sick or something.” He shook his head in response. “If I was going to quit, then I should have done so three hours ago. By now I’m just too lazy to take the late buy home.” He grinned and gave you a small kiss.
“Ahh, so you’re just doing duty work so you can stay over?” You teased, and he nodded. “Yep. Absolutely.” You couldn’t keep a slow smile from spreading as you looked at him. “Koreshiki,” “Oh you haven’t called me by my last name in more than a year. That sounds weird.” He chuckled. “Take the clip out of your bangs.” He raised an eyebrow. “Why?” “C’mon, I never see you without it.” You reached up to undo the clip, and he didn’t stop you.
His hair fell down into his eyes. There was a dent in the shape where his clip usually sat. It looked so sweet. “Hey that’s such a cute look, Eugene.” You played with his strands. “Thanks but it feels really annoying to have all that hair in my face.” He responded as a way of explaining that’s why I don’t do it. “Then why did you even cut yourself bangs?” You asked, now beginning to squish his cheeks. “It was a rather impulsive decision a few years ago. I wouldn’t call it an act of rebellion, but maybe something close to that? My mom didn’t want me to cut my own bangs. She might have been right, though, cause I hate having hair in my face.” He chuckled, not minding your hands in his face.
“Sometimes you can be such an idiot Eugene, even though you’re so intelligent.” You laughed “It’s cute. You’re cute.” He laughed softly. “I’m cute? Are you supposed to say that to guys?” You shrugged and kissed him. “I don’t care. Either way, you’re a cutie.” You laughed and kissed him again. He pressed a kiss into your hair. “You’re weird.”
