interpret it however you want, I just liked the ref from the movie, and yes I love the sea emperor and al-an, they need to meet somewhere in another life.

I need to stop betting attached to complicated ass robot characters I don't have the patience to draw
Al-An makes me extremely happy
I want to hold his weird alien hand and ride on his back like a horse (but only if that's ok with him)
He is massive boy
Also... monster alien 👀

Fandom: Subnautica Below Zero (Al-an x Robin)
Notes: none except Alan the alien is in fact not human, so maybe slight warning for implied xenophilia? Idk should I add xenophilia trigger warnings to all of my bz posts? There’s nothing explicit in my entire blog but let me know if you’d rather me do that
---------------------------------------------------------------
1) Good ol' soulmate AU
It takes Robin half a lifetime and a voyage to the other side of space to figure out why she had been THAT obsessed with anything alien ever since she could remember. It takes more than a millennia AND surviving the literal apocalypse for Alan to meet his own soulmate and even then it is her who finds him.
2) Canon divergence
Alterra gets to Al-an first. They hook his cube to a portatile power source and bring the whole thing onboard the Vesper for study. The rare times they do manage to force a response out of him, it still doesn’t come in any human language, so they bring Robin into the project as a xeno-linguist. While it seems she isn’t making any progress at first, soon a voice finds her in her dreams, making her question her own sanity as she only hears it when asleep.
So I just realized something weird about two lines from Subnautica: Below Zero...
In one set of dialogue, Al-An describes themselves as "a lone string in search of familiar harmonies."
But when you build and use a jukebox, they ask you what music is.
If they don't know what music is, how do they know to describe themselves as a string in search of harmonies?
