رُغمَ الحربِ والقصفِ والوجعِ الذي لا يفارقُ أروقةَ مستشفى الشفاء، يثبتُ خريجو الطبّ أنّهم جنودُ الحياةِ في زمنِ الموت. Despite the war, the bombings, and the pain that never leaves the halls of Al-Shifa Hospital, the medical graduates prove that they are the soldiers of life in a time of death. #غزة #الصحفية_فرح_حسان #غزة_الآن
Hamas forces carried out a brutal campaign of abductions, torture and unlawful killings against Palestinians accused of “collaborating” with
[2014] Gaza: Palestinians tortured, summarily killed by Hamas forces during 2014 conflict
Hamas forces also abducted, tortured or attacked members and supporters of Fatah, their main rival political organization within Gaza, including former members of the Palestinian Authority security forces. Not a single person has been held accountable for the crimes committed by Hamas forces against Palestinians during the 2014 conflict, indicating that these crimes were either ordered or condoned by the authorities.
“Instead of upholding justice, the Hamas authorities and leadership have continuously encouraged and facilitated these appalling crimes against powerless individuals. Their failure to even condemn the unlawful killings, abduction and torture of perceived suspects leaves them effectively with blood on their hands,” said Philip Luther.

“There were marks of torture and bullet shots on his body. His arms and legs were broken… his body was as if you’d put it in a bag and smashed it… His body was riddled with about 30 bullets. He had slaughter marks around his neck, marks of knives… And from behind the head – there was no brain. Empty… It was difficult for us to carry him… He was heavy, like when you put meat in a bag; no bones. His bones were smashed. They broke him in the prison,” said his brother, who retrieved the body from al-Shifa hospital morgue on 22 August 2014.
At least 30 premature babies have been evacuated from al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza to Egypt.
According to some accounts, hospital staff took turns holding the babies to provide them with body heat to keep them alive after they ran out of power for the incubators. They kept 30 premature babies alive, under bombardment and gunfire, while dealing with God knows how many other suffering and dying patients.
That is a kind of heroism no person should ever have to show. A heroism far more worthy than the warriors and rich men who usually get remembered in history books, and have monuments built to their honour.
So is Israel going to claim that the World Health Organization investigators now on the scene at Al-Shifa are lying too? Lemme guess, they're secretly Hamas or antisemitic - or both.
Israel has convinced itself that Hamas has underground headquarters beneath the hospitals, a claim refuted not only by Hamas and the hospitals themselves but by foreign doctors with intimate familiarity with them. Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian physician who has worked in Gaza for years and is presently stuck in Egypt trying, at 76 years of age, to return to Gaza to help, utterly rejected the Israeli claim about al-Shifa. “For sixteen years, I have walked around freely inside the hospital complex. We have heard these claims since 2009 and they have been threatening to bomb al-Shifa since then without offering any proof.” Now they have bombed it at last.
