My Peeps Exchange- Official
Ok so this is the official one for Dupreerose.
It's Kataang, it's fluffy. I hope I got the prompt right. Alaburn was able to beta this and she did an absolutely amazing job. This is actually fanfic of your fanfic Four Days On A Train when they are back on the train traveling to see Toph. This is technically a song fic and the song is "Shut Up and Dance" by WALK THE MOON. And the second is the opening line from "Lose Control" by Missy Elliot.
Enjoy.
Shut Up and Dance With Me
Aang’s eyes drifted over to Katara as her head and foot swayed simultaneously to the music coming from her headphones. Unlike him, his girlfriend seemed to be having no trouble concentrating on her work.
He sighed and turned back to his tablet and the concepts he was supposed to be working on, hoping that the music pouring through his own headphones would give him the fuel he needed to stay focused. But before long, he caught himself glancing out the window at the passing scenery as their train progressed down the tracks.
To anyone else, it was perhaps just one of the many moments that made up a day, but he was getting fidgety and his artist’s block wasn't helping any. His chest heaved another heavy but silent sigh as he tried for the millionth time to focus.
Unbeknownst to him, Katara had just abandoned her work and had been quietly watching him these last few moments. She herself was bored to distraction, and if she had to read another report written by an incompetent asswipe trying to sound smart, she just might fling herself off the train. She had observed Aang also struggling to work, and had noted that he must have erased as much as he had drawn.
She came to a conclusion very quickly; they needed a break.
Katara’s mouth quirked up in a wry and completely mischievous grin as she paused the song she was listening to and began scrolling through her music library. Her eyes scanned for a good tension-breaker, something to get the blood going. 'Shut Up and Dance' by Walk the Moon looked good. She put away her laptop and unplugged the headphones from her phone, cranking the volume loud enough to fill the small compartment.
Then she grabbed Aang's arm to bring his attention back to her. He immediately pulled his headphones out of his ears and looked at her curiously.
“Break time,” Katara said as she stood up and stretched, affording him a good view of her midriff as her shirt rode up when her arms went above her head.
Aang had to jerk his gaze back up to her eyes when she cleared her throat and raised an eyebrow at him. “Right,” he mumbled as he quickly saved everything and put it aside to stand up with her and stretch too.
“Now, let's dance,” Katara suggested.
“I'm sorry, what?” he said, shaking his head in confusion.
She swallowed timidly but was resolved. “Come on, it's just the two of us. It’ll be fun, and it’s a good way to get some blood pumping.”
“Oh, I think you get my blood pumping just fine,” Aang murmured huskily, stepping up to her and stealing a quick kiss.
“Later,” Katara giggled as she turned to press play on her phone, her body moving instinctively before the beat even started.
Oh don't you dare look back. Just keep your eyes on me.
Katara began to sing along sweetly to him as she started to dance in the small space.
Aang grinned at the effort she was putting into her spontaneous gesture and did his best to sing back to her.
I said, ‘You're holding back’.
Katara playfully rolled her eyes and smiled.
Shut up and dance with me!
Suddenly Aang spun her in a twirl, and then had to catch her as the action made her stumble. They both laughed as their steps fell back into the rhythm of the song, which was serving very well as a way to blow off steam.
This woman is my destiny.
As the lyrics flowed through the air, it occurred to Aang just how appropriate this song was for them, the specific words meaning more to him than perhaps Katara had realized.
We were victims of the night.
The chemical, physical, kryptonite.
Helpless to the bass and faded light,
Oh, we were bound to get together,
Bound to get together.
She took my arm, I don't know how it happened.
Aang pulled Katara into the circle of his arms as he tried to sync up his dancing to hers.
A backless dress and some beat up sneaks,
My disco-tech, Juliet teenage dream. I felt it in my chest as she looked at me. I knew we were bound to be together, Bound to be together His eyes were lost in the deep seas of her eyes, and he felt his heart happily skipping beats. He couldn't imagine a life where he wasn't looking into those eyes day after day for the rest of his life. Deep in her eyes, I think I see the future. I realize this is my last chance.
Aang stopped dancing, his feet glued to the floor as he lifted his hands and placed one on each side of her face. He halted for only a moment before lowering his face to hers, and then kissed her tenderly for the rest of the song.
Katara clung helplessly to him, kissing him back with all she had as her hands fisted in his jacket. She never could withstand the way Aang looked at her and touched her. Like he had found the world’s greatest treasure and had no intention of letting go, and yet he was her treasure. She pulled him tighter to her and he obliged, their kissing heating up as they used each other for balance against the rocking motion of the train. Neither of them noticed as the song ended, fading gradually into silence.
But they were soon shaken into awareness when the next song in Katara’s shuffle queue blasted through the speaker.
“MUSIC MAKE YOU LOOSE CONTROL, MUSIC MAKE YOU LOOSE CONTROL. LET'S GO!!”
Katara breathed in sharply through her nose as her eyes snapped open and she jerked her lips away from Aang’s. All Aang could do was burst into laughter as he held onto her so she couldn’t turn it off.
“No, no, baby. We’re dancing to this one too. At least this is my kind of music,” he admonished as his hips jumped to the beat.
“Really?” Katara asked, pleasantly surprised. “Well, okay then.”
And so the dancing continued on, much longer than Katara had originally planned, but she didn’t really mind. Eventually they began using Aang’s phone instead - it had better speakers for the bass – and then it wasn't long until the song choices, and the dancing, became much more suggestive in nature. If Aang was surprised by Katara’s impulsiveness before, it was nothing compared to being stunned by seeing her more risqué dance moves. The blood was definitely pumping now, but getting back to their work didn’t seem to be in either of their minds. They kept moving together, skin getting warmer as the dancing grew more and more erotic. Soon there wasn’t even enough space between them to really call what they were doing “dancing”.
That was, until, a Skype call from Sokka came through on Katara's phone.
