Is it just me or does Jasmine not look particularly happy to be married to Mr. Lies-to-a-girl-too-good-for-him-multiple-times-but-he's-cute-so-people-don't-care-lol?

Please, bail on the friend. Live Action Aladdin has made so much money and broken records. They need as little encouragement as possible or they'll keep doing more of the same.

Unfortunately its too late since she already bought the tickets without my knowledge, so even if I don't go the damage is done :/

I have always been really suspicious of the movie since the trailer came out, but my friend convinced me that it's fine and it's just the Jasmine casting that was problematic.

I was still suspicious, but she's both middle eastern and muslim, so ofc i trusted her... Until I found out the very racist and islamophobic mess that is this movie. I guess she didn't know either? I mean we just sort of assume the racist connotations in the original one was just a product of its time, but I can't believe Disney is racist enough to go with the "I'm the only good brown guy around, everyone else are barbarians" message in 20-fucking-19. Smh.
