ASIK-ASIK FALLS: DAY TWO OF SOCCSKSARGEN IN 7 DAYS
DAY 2: ASIK-ASIK FALLS
To continue with our SOCCSKSARGEN adventure, we started the day with an early morning van ride going to Midsayap in the province of Cotabato. It is 47 km or 29 miles away from Cotabato City and travel time was 3 hrs. After checking-in at the hotel we went straight to Alamada, where Asik-asik falls is located.
Getting to Asik-asik falls is not to be taken lightly. From Midsayap you need to take a 2 hrs habal-habal ride passing through one hell of a road going to the jump-off point. Literally it was a butt-sacrificing ride. A round trip habal-habal ride cost 600 – 800 php/habal-habal (habal-habal driver Abad: 09398084975). Just be careful because some drivers would ask for 1,000 php payment. At one point the motorcycle I’m riding loss control with me and the driver fell on the ground twice near the edge of the stiff road. Me sustaining several first degree burn on my right leg.
Upon reaching the jump-off point we met Ate Sally Daquil (09358454802/09058064501), the care taker and registration officer of the place. If you want to stay overnight at Alamada, you may stay at Ate Sally’s hut at 500/pax/night.Registration fee is 20 -40 php. Before going to the falls it is advisable to buy your food and water on the store at the registration area.
Going to the falls, one need to challenged oneself of the vigorous 500 steps ahead. But the hardship is nothing once you see the majestic Asik-Asik Falls. Personally, it’s the most beautiful waterfall I’ve seen. It’s not your typical fall. The water cascade directly from the stone walls. It doesn’t have a catch basin instead it falls directly to the tributary of Alamada River.
