Sin: What are you doing here?
Alan: Picking my baby brother up from school.
Sin: Well, he’s in detention. Word is he tried to kill someone with a paintbrush.
Alan: Little scamp.

I reread In Other Lands by @sarahreesbrennan and then I may have tripped face first back into Demon's Lexicon. And now here I am with what my mom described as "what a cute picture wait why does that child have a knife"
I’ve been meaning to do an edit for possibly my favorite character of all time, Cynthia Davies, forever. Unfortunately doing her justice took some time. But at long last, I present, The Many Faces of Ms. Davies.
(And if you haven’t read the Demon’s Lexicon series yet, go do that!)
Sin: I’ll teach you the bow. But does this mean I can call on you at any time for obscure facts about geography.
Alan: Fair enough. I also know many obscure historical facts I’m willing the trade.
Sin: Like what?
Alan: The Scottish invented suspenders. And Isaac Newton, the guy who discovered gravity? He invented the cat flap.
Sin: I can see you’re going to be an invaluable asset to our side.
Alan: We don’t care about your name, magician. Any more than you cared about the names of the people you’ve killed.
Gerald: Killers? Is that all you think magicians are?
Nick: Not really. If I did, I’d think I was a magician.
Nick: She tries so hard to hide her attraction. Her mouth says, ‘I cannot imagine what they see in you’ but her eyes say, ‘Take me, wild stallion.’ She’ll be back. She can’t keep away.
Alan: You’re not allowed to be a wild stallion until you’re older.
So I recently re-read The Demon's Lexicon, and now I have this burning question that just must be answered. I just keep on wondering how all these people put their knives in their pockets. Do they not fall out? Do they not stab themselves? Especially Jamie with his magic knife that can cut everything. This is very important to me. Please answer. Thanks.
Jamie’s knife is a switchblade, so it is quite handy for pockets! Here is the first description of the knife, in which Nick Tries To Impress A Lady With His Magic Knife, great call Nick, it doesn’t work.
‘ ‘Let me show you my magic knife.’
He took out the switchblade he’d been playing with down at the magicians’ alley the day before and tossed it to Mae… He confiscated the knife from her and flipped it open. The blade gleamed in the light, so sharp that it seemed multi-faceted, catching the rays of the sun like a jewel…
‘It can cut through bones like butter.’ ’
I should be arrested for crimes of foreshadowing. So, Jamie’s knife is not an issue for normal pockets. Especially as dude pockets, often more capacious than ladies’ pockets, which is sexist against ladies who need knives and paperclips.
Alan and Nick dress for concealed weapons, choosing deep pockets and having weapons strapped to their body under their clothes, as various people discover with various reactions, as follows:
(NICK)
JAMIE: THIS IS THE MOST UPSETTING SLEEPOVER OF ALL TIMES!
MAE: Bring your knives to bed or take me to bed, those are your options, you can’t have both.
(ALAN)
SIN: I’ll help you with your straps if you help me with mine.
Very glad to have a question about weaponry, also I turned it sexy, another day of corrupting the populace with literature! I hope you enjoyed this answer.
