@jade-ellsworth : “oh my gosh, can you say more about the pattern? i also like to knit but i've never made a pattern before!”
(on this post) (I’m trying to do a not terrible reply on mobile, pls bear with me)
sure !!
do you want to hear about the pattern itself, or like the process of putting it together? this is the first time I’ve made my own pattern. I’m going to do a temperature scarf (knit the daily high and low temp for a whole year, I’m starting on my birthday), but I think scarves are super boring to knit, so I made a pattern that hopefully I won’t be sick of after a year.
so the bottom and top edges are a combo of seed stitch and a slip stitch rib. seed stitch not pictured in the swatch below (but it is in the original post), but you can see the slip stitch rib, which is the lil chains. the main pattern for the scarf is going to be seed stitch chevrons, which is the middle bit in this pic:
I’m going to reverse the direction of the chevron (like pointing up or down) for every month. it’s a 4-row repeat, so I can knit two rows for the low temp and two rows for the high temp, and then i’ll be done for the day. don’t have to keep track of the pattern over multiple days.
seed stitch is basically just k1, p1 every row. the slip stitch rib: slip one stitch purlwise (with the yarn in back), knit 3, repeat.
each of the left and right edges are an edge I lifted from a different scarf pattern, which I liked. on the front: right edge: knit, knit, purl; left edge: purl, knit, knit. and on the back side, for both edges: knit, purl, knit. makes that cute bumpy edge on the side!
sorry if this doesn’t make much sense ;o; I have the whole pattern charted out, but I haven’t written it out because I prefer charts. I’m happy to share the charts though!
