#i made these tonight and they were great! #i had to play with the recipe bc I halved it and added some seasoning

I’m so glad the latkes turned out well! And yeah, like I said I barely ever measure my seasonings, I just grind my spices over the mix and check to see how it tastes, so please feel free to play with the recipe. :)

okay i’ve watched the show finale. I don’t... know how to feel about it. like i’m absolutely bitter but also ... it’s complicated. ?? i know i have followers who are expressing the desire to watch the show but haven’t so i’m going to put spoiler-y stuff under the cut. 

I guess in some ways I think death is probably always where Vanessa’s story was heading. It was often presented as the only way for her to “be free” but as she is a clearly struggling with depression yikes. BUT ALSO like they’ve been setting her up as a martyr. Death is an ending. Though I know as an american i’m conditioned to want happy endings. Her death also distinctly feels like .. it didn’t happen to her but it happened to Ethan and Malcolm. IDK if they were going to kill her they could have done it better. I CERTAINLY WISH Ethan hadn’t done it. So many women are murdered by their lovers. 

And idk if the show runners knew the series was going to be canceled at s3 because i think i read it was announced after the finale that it was coming back. so like was the plucky red head vampire hunter supposed to be vanessa’s replacement and that’s why she died? only one white lady on the show at a time i guess. just like only one racist character of color on the show at a time.

it was partly a joke, because someone came up to the desk the night before and asked for “lucy or lucille?” and my name sounds nothing like that, but people will assume that’s what they heard instead :/ (and in this case specifically, i’d been on the phone with a woman and we could both barely hear each other, and she called her sister to go pick up the info i got her, and her sister could barely hear her though, so a literal game of telephone with my name)

but it’s just like. don’t. don’t. susan has not had to deal with 14 years of people mispronouncing her name. i’m very touchy about it, and i don’t think i’m wrong to be. (that’s why i switched to alba! much easier! less hassle!) thank u heather

  in other news if i could just focus and write this...

hot tip from a nerd: take five minutes. stretch, go to the bathroom. then come back and instead of trying to write it straight through, make an outline of your big points. come back and add your evidence for each big point, even if it’s just the citations and not actual quotes. then see where you are. don’t get hung up on little things, just get the big stuff down then fluff it out little by little

this is such good advice!! i had already outlined my points though and i was just trying to turn them into sentences 😹  my brain just really doesn’t like to think about the industrial revolution for more than like 45 seconds at a time tho i guess

this exact issue is one of the main reasons why I just. gave up. any kind of marvel fandom interaction online. it's frustrating and not worth my angst.

it’s so true. like to claim people haven’t been making these criticisms means you haven’t been seeking them out. and also like maybe i just didn’t see it but i don’t remember the US Army twitter being like “captain american perfectly embodies everything it means to be in the military. please go watch this movie. we have no other agenda behind promoting this movie.”
