Requested: Albert x Reader where they are best friends and she is a newsie with him. One day school girls come and flirt with Albert while getting a paper making her feel insecure because she likes him. (I don’t know if you’ve done something like this but thank you :)
Warning: jealous/insecure reader
———————————–
You couldn’t ever watch Albert sell
It never failed to make you jealous
Whether he was flirting with girls or girls were flirting with him you couldn’t stand it
You’d always been used to it
But one day it seemed to get to you
Albert must’ve had a “touch me” sign because you saw girls all over him
You couldn’t help but feel insecure
You couldn’t help but feel like he’d like them way better than you
You didn’t have any dresses like they did
You always wore clothes that made you look just like any other newsie
Albert noticed you were acting different immediately after they left
He asked non stop what was wrong
You’d almost ignored him all day
There was no way you’d tell him about your feelings
The last thing you needed was for Albert to laugh in your face for you liking him
It hadn’t been until you were walking back to the lodging house that you gave in
You’d grabbed him by his collar taking him by surprise
Albert had experienced the best and first kiss he’d ever had
He couldn’t stop himself from grabbing your face
He finally realized why you always kept your distance while selling
It was a surprise for you the next day when he stayed close
He’d even hung all over you the whole day
Finally getting why you’d been jealous when he saw boys your age talking to you
“Baby, come on, you know the party won’t be as fun without you.” Albert said, holding your hand as the two of you walked into school.
“But Halloween parties are the same every year. Someone mixes vodka with fruit punch and it’s gone within the first hour. And it usually ends with someone being caught having sex.” You said.
“This year’ll be fun though, because now we’re dating and so it’s different.” While it was worded incredibly ridiculous, Albert did have a point.
“Fine, I’ll go, but I’m just gonna drink a lot.” You said, causing Albert to smile and lean in to kiss you. You closed the gap, and you suddenly realized you and Albert had become every cliche couple ever.
You had met Albert in sophomore year, during Spanish class. He sat in front of you, and you guys started talking immediately. He had this way about him, that made you instantly attracted to him. And it wasn’t until the end of junior year when Albert finally said something. By that time, you and Albert were talking pretty much every day, and you knew you were definitely in love with him. It was a kind of love where you wanted to be with him everyday, and you wanted to know even the weirdest things about him.
The day he asked you out was one of the happiest days of your life. It was after school, and Albert was driving you home, and he just let it slip.
“So, do you maybe wanna go on a date?” He asked you, causing you to choke on your water.
“With you?” You asked. Obviously you, Y/N, you idiot.
“Nevermind, forget it, it was stupid, just forget I said-”
“No! I want to date you!” You exclaimed, smiling once the feeling sunk in that you were gonna date your long time crush.
And now it was almost 6 months and you still felt the same way. Except there was this one tiny thing that made you weary. You’ve told Albert you loved him, multiple times, and he hasn’t. It wasn’t like you were trying to force him to say it, just after saying it to him a bunch of times, it felt as if he didn’t feel the same way you did.
“Hey I gotta go to class, but we’re going tonight?” He asked, rubbing his thumb over your knuckles.
“Yeah, sure.” You said, and he kissed you quickly one more time. “I love you.”
“I’ll see you after school.” He said, starting to walk away, catching up to another one of his friends. You continued to stand there, watching him walk away, trying not to let your smile falter. He had the perfect opportunity to say it back, but he didn’t. It was fine, everything was gonna be fine.
Albert didn’t know anything about love. He grew up in a house full of boys, his mom died when he was six. His brothers and dad didn’t really show much affection towards each other. He had an idea of love, like he loves lacrosse, he loves carbonated drinks, he loves food. But the love he felt towards you was a complete different kind of love. Every time he saw you, he got butterflies in his stomach, and when he saw you smile, he swore it was the most beautiful thing he’s seen in his life. He didn’t know how to express that, because what he felt, was new, and more than love.
You were laying in Albert’s bed with him after school, just scrolling on your phone. He had an arm wrapped around you and the other was holding his phone. The party didn’t start till seven, so the both of you had some time to kill. You turned around, facing Albert and watching his face. You leaned in to kiss him. He reciprocated, pulling you on top of him.
“Are we doing this?” You asked, pulling away briefly to face Albert.
“Are you okay with it?” He asked, massaging your hips. You nodded and leaned back to kiss him.
“Y/N! You made it!” Elmer exclaimed, opening up the door and dragging you inside.
“Okay, how much have you had to drink already, Elmer?” You asked, smiling a little as Albert found another group to talk to.
“Doesn’t matter, we have booze.” He said, giving you a solo cup full of some liquid. “Also, you aren’t dressed up, it’s a Halloween party!”
“I uh, ran out of time.” You said, taking a sip of the mysterious liquid.
“Yeah, we can tell.” He retorted, pointing to a forming bruise on your neck. You laughed with him and continued to make small talk as more people started showing up.
Two hours into the party, everyone was either super drunk or asleep. Like, Race and Spot were on the couch, making out, and Finch and Buttons were curled up on the reclining chair, asleep. You were in the kitchen with Katherine, drinking more. Katherine was drinking lemonade while you downed your fourth cup.
“He won’t even say ‘I love you’!” You exclaimed, throwing the cup on the floor. “We’ve been dating a long time now, like, a million months, and he won’t even say it!”
“Y/N, it’s okay, he’ll get around to it.” Katherine replied, putting a hand on your shoulder. But you jumped off the counter, and in your drunken state, it seemed like a good idea to confront Albert.
“No, we need to talk, right here, right now.” You said, walking toward him.
“No! Y/N, maybe that’s not the best idea, you’re clearly drunk, and we’re at a party!” Katherine said, but it was too late, you were already tapping Albert on the shoulder. Katherine put a hand over her face, not wanting to see how this will end up.
“Why won’t you tell me you love me?” You snapped at Albert, his smile off his face falling once he saw you. His group went silent, practically the whole room went silent. Even Spot and Race sat up, watching the interaction.
“Y/N, what are-what are you talking about?” He said, putting a hand on your shoulder, but you brushed it off.
“I tell you I love you all the time, even earlier, when we were-”
“Okay, you are very, very intoxicated right now, and you don’t know what you’re saying. Let’s go home.” He said, taking your hand.
“No! I want to know why, why, why don’t you love me?” You said, your mood turning from angry to sad. Tears welled up in your eyes.
“Okay, we’re going home. Goodbye everyone, I’ll see you at school on Monday.” Albert said, gently leading you to his car. You were still crying, but mostly confused as to what was going on.
“Where are we going?” You hiccuped, crawling into the car.
“We’re going to my house, and you’re going to sleep for 12 hours.” Albert responded, putting your seatbelt on for you.
The drive to his house was practically silent, except you were humming a tune and tapping the window. Normally, Albert would be smiling, but he was more worried than anything. He was worried that you didn’t want to be with him anymore, he was worried about how long you’ve felt this way. He wanted to ask you, but you were so drunk he didn’t think he’d get an answer out of you.
Arriving at Albert’s house, Albert cursed that his bedroom was up the stairs because it was going to take even longer getting you into bed. There was an option of having you sleep on the couch, but he didn’t want his dad to be shocked in the morning, so he’d make that struggle for you. You put your arms around his neck and he lifted you into his arms, ready to get a semi-workout. What he wasn’t expecting, however, was one of his older brothers to be home and in the living room, the room where he had to walk through to get to his room.
“Hey Al, where you been all night?” His brother asked. “Is that Y/N?”
“Yeah, uh, if you could not tell dad that-”
“Hey! It’s Albert’s brother!” You exclaimed, giggling and awkwardly waving at him. He waved back at you momentarily, before turning to Albert again.
“How drunk are they?” His brother asked.
“Uh, I don’t know.” He replied. “But we’re going to bed.”
Albert walked upstairs slowly, and letting a breath of relief when he got to his room. He gently laid you down on the bed, and took of your shoes.
“Okay just sleep now, we’ll talk in the morning.” He said, kissing you on the forehead, and he pulled the blankets over you.
You woke up in the morning with a killer headache, but the moment you turned your head, there was a glass of water and two ibuprofen next to it. You sat up, looking for your boyfriend, but he was nowhere to be found. But right after that thought crossed your mind, he walked in.
“Good, you’re up.” He said, taking a seat next to you. “Do you remember anything about last night?”
“Uhm, I remember drinking a lot in the kitchen, I remember wondering where Davey and Jack went halfway through the night, I remember Katherine and I talking, and I remember,” You paused, gasping slightly when you realized what else happened that night. “Oh no, Albert, I’m so sorry, I don’t know why I said that.”
“You do know why you said it, what’s going on?” He asked, putting a hand on your leg.
“I don’t know, it’s just, upsetting that I’ve said it a bunch, and you never respond. I don’t want to be in a relationship that’s not going anywhere.” You responded. “But I do wanna be with you, I just don’t know how serious this is.”
“You make me so incredibly happy, and I want to say it, but you make me so nervous.” He said. “Okay, that sounds bad. But, I mean that when you walk into a room, my heart explodes.”
“Albert, it’s okay, it was a lot to ask-”
“No, because I do love you, and I’m just a wimp who can’t express feelings correctly.” He said. “And I should’ve said it a lot sooner-”
You cut Albert off by connecting your lips to his, and he put a hand on your cheek, pulling you closer to him.
could you possibly do a headcanon involving Albert where he realizes you’re having a really bad day, but trying to hide it from everyone and it just ends up with him cuddling with you. you can add anything else you want to it!
Yes! I don’t know why he seems like such a frat boy in my head (maybe because he’s tight with Race and Race is my favorite little shit) but he’s a Very Sweet Boy in this
So you’re a Newsie and it’s just been the worst day
Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong
You dropped some of your papers in a puddle so you couldn’t sell them and you didn’t have money for lunch and some kid stole your selling spot and the list goes on and on
You come back to the lodging house for the night and you’re tired and hungry and wishing that this day would just end
You’re normally a jokester that can even keep up with Race and Albert when it came to witty banter
And so the minute you come in the sassiest of Newsies are trying to get a rise out of you
This is the first time Albert has sold more papers than you and he hops on THAT train right away
And Race and Buttons join in and you know they aren’t doing it to hurt you but it’s just so much teasing
And normally you can throw back insults like nobody’s business and the four of you would make this into a bit
But the most you can manage without crying is a weak laugh and a little “yep, you guys got me”
Race and Buttons keep laughing because they finally beat you in verbal combat, but Albert can tell that something’s up
You run outside to get some fresh air and some privacy, and he follows you out
He’s all “You’re off your game, kid, what’s up?” but you stay silent because you’re doing all you can to fight back tears
“Leave me alone, Albert”
Albert doesn’t leave you alone because he knows you need someone but he’s not really sure how to help, so he just walks up beside you and softly puts a hand on your shoulder so you know he’s there for you
And it’s such a gentle and genuine gesture and it’s the first nice thing that’s happened to you all day and you just break down right there
Albert leads you over to a bench just outside the lodging house and sits you down and lets you rest your head on his shoulder while you cry out all the frustrations of the day
Albert asks you if you want to talk about it but you shake your head because it’s all stupid
But he says “hey, if it’s making you cry, it’s not stupid and you’re allowed to feel sad about it” as if he heard you
And so you tell him about all of the things that happened and how it just all piled on until it was too much
He looks at you for a second, thinking, until he suddenly stands up and asks you to follow him
He brings you into the lodging house to his bunk and pulls out a little paper bag from under his bed
And in the bag is the biggest, most delicious looking chocolate chip cookie
“I was saving this for a rainy day, but you need it more than I do today”
And this is enough to make you cry again, but this time it’s happy tears
And you break the cookie in half and give one to him
And you both lay down with your head on his chest and you both eat your cookie and talk and laugh until your bad day feels like it was years ago
- and you love them all very much, always by there side ever since the beginning.
- backstory time
- so you were walking home, right?
- and you go the usual way from the bakery, dark streets with nothing but buildings.
- so a group of men, maybe three, were watching you and they were like ‘ay, it’s a helpless girl, let’s try our chance’ (disgusting)
- so they all corner you and you put up a helluva fight
- they got bloody lips and their toes stomped on and their baby makers kicked, everything.
- but it was three muscular men against one girl, (sexist, sorry)
- so anyway, they got you pinned to the wall and they’re tryna get a feel and you’re screaming bc ‘god can someone hear me. please someone, anyone’ and thank god
- jack comes running through, hearing your cries from his penthouse. he calls for race and albert and they run towards you bc they’d never let a girl get hurt if they can stop it.
- and jack tackles on man to the ground, punching him unconscious.
- race is kicking and punching till the bigger guy flips him off and runs off
- before albert can even get his hands on the third guy, he runs off when he sees how quick his friends were taken down.
- albert immediately goes over to you with caution when you just burst into tears
- bc shit they were touching me and how could i thank them and yeah.
-(you and albie get together js)
- backstory over
- so yeah that’s how you find yourself the lodge w the boys almost every day.
- so it’s almost christmas, right? and you just wanna love the boys bc they all show their love so vv much
- walking you home - buying you food when you can’t afford it even if they can’t either - and so much more
- albie especially. every chance he gets he’ll try to do something for you, even something as simple as holding your bag when you’re walking from work.
- anyways, you walk up to the lodge, pretty sure that everyone’s asleep and you can’t do anything at your house bc your parents don't want you to have friends and justwant you to focus on work
- so they think you’re sleeping ya baddie
- so you let yourself in and you go in and out of the house, all your money going with you in your arms.
- an extremely tiny tree, small presents all surrounding it, almost towering it with a number of boys there are seeing as you got each of them something.
- but you love albie so mf much so you decide to work extra hours for more money just so you could afford to get him a warm ass blanket
- but you stitched *albie + (Y/N/N)* to make it authentic and rlly meaningful
- and so you just kind of crawl into albie’s bed with him, not even caring about how your parents will freak when you’re not home in the morning
- albert just kind puts his arm around your waist and pulls you as close as possible for warmth.
- and you just kinda fall asleep with a smile on your face bc wow you really love this boy. like so vvv much.
- so the next morning you’re the first one up
- it’s really early still so you run out to the bakery and ask the owner if you could ask for a favor
- and you return to see a few of the guys surrounding the tree and shaking the boxes
- you sneak past them and set the food down on a small table the boys had once stolen.
- you set up the table as more boys woke up, but didn’t think to look in the room you were in
- so the food was ready and all the boys had woken up so you walked out and smiled at the guys and they were so very confused.
- “what’s this?” “do you know who did this y/n?”
- so you just kinda gave a smug smile as the realization dawned on them
- so you brought them all into the room that could barely fit them all. most of them had tears when they saw the food they had never had right in front of them.
-jack attacked you with hugs bc wow, all this is for them and he couldn’t ask for a better christmas
- so everyone got their fair share, whatever was left was also split evenly for those who were still hungry
- albert was so mf happy bc he’s never really had a good christmas. most boys haven’t so it was so heartwarming
- after the food was completely gone everyone went back to the tree and presents.
-and everyone got important but small things that were either cheap or handmade.
- socks, scarfs, hats, gloves, simple but warming things for the bitter cold outside.
- so it was a really good day, and your parents weren’t worried as much, but you went back to the lodge with the blanket
- and some boys were already there, messing around and taking their new presents off when you walked in, going straight for albie’s bed.
- a few minutes later, he walked in, slightly bummed he didn’t get anything. that was, until he saw you in his bed with a tan quilt wrapped around her.
- he was so shocked when he felt how soft it was.
- he instantly took off his shoes and got under the blanket, so fcking comfortable and pulling you tight against him.
- it wasn’t until the next day that he cried when he saw the stitching.

Can I get Albert DaSilva x Higgins!reader, and maybe something where the reader has anxiety?
Warnings: anxious reader, anxiety attack
———————————–
Race was never a fan of your relationship with Albert
It had nothing to do with Albert being his friend, but you being his sister
He couldn’t think about what he’d do if Albert ever hurt you
You had issues with anxiety ever since you were little
Your parents didn’t give it much attention so Race was left to help you with it
Once he saw how Albert treated you and how he was able to handle/help with your anxiety
Albert had almost all of his classes with you
And after a year of being with each other he could tell when it got bad
You had been in class when Albert noticed your hands starting to shake
You almost jumped when your phone vibrated in your pocket
Albert had messaged you to meet him outside, and you’d almost shot out of your seat before excusing yourself to go to the restroom
Albert followed not far after, grabbing your hands in his
He talked you through it like many times before
Neither of you caring that you were in the middle of the hallway
You couldn’t believe you were fortunate to have Albert
You both didn’t go back to class after, Albert deciding to take you home so you could have your space to recover instead of putting yourself back around everyone in class
