plagiarism of my fic Untangled and unknown Hazbin Hotel fic

(EDIT 13/07: yes, I have reported this to A03.)

this is not going to be a very fun post sorry guys. but a new chapter of Untangled has just gone up, so that's something!

part 01: the day I got plagiarised

thanks again to everyone who alerted me that author aleafinacup was plagiarising bits of description and dialogue from my fic Untangled, for their fic Plus Et En Vous. you guys are real ones.

as most of you know, aleafinacup initially did the following:

publicly admitted to the plagiarism on their tumblr, by reblogging my original post

admitted they'd plagiarised in the past, for one of their Hazbin Hotel fics

posted an author's note on their fic (Chap5), admitting they'd plagiarised bits of dialogue and description from Untangled

(they'd already admitted in another author's note (Chap1) that they'd never actually seen Tangled the series, just read my fic)

apologised and offered to resolve this privately with me

part 02: the day I got blocked

aleafinacup and myself started going through their fic together via Google docs to identify all instances of plagiarism. until today, when aleafinacup did the following:

removed my access to the Google docs

blocked me on A03

deleted my comment on their fic, where I accused them of plagiarism

deleted their author's note on their fic, where they admitted to plagiarism

posted a new chapter of their fic

set up moderator-approval for comments on their fic, i.e. comments now require their approval before they display publicly

messaged me saying they wanted 'to be left alone'

blocked me on tumblr

(note: as of 21/04 00:29 GMT, it seems they forgot to remove their tumblr post where they publicly admit to the plagiarism)

so...I will fully admit, I feel like an idiot lol. maybe this whole thing was a trap from the start. either way, it was naive of me to go along with it.

part 03: the day I took screengrabs

for what it's worth, I have screengrabs of their tumblr post (where they publicly admit to the plagiarism), screengrabs of all our messages, and a document of everything they've plagiarised so far. see end of this post, under the cut.

yes, it's just fanfic. yes, it's just bits and pieces of Untangled, not the whole thing. this isn't the first time I've been plagiarised, and I'm sure it won't be the last. but it's still kinda shitty, every time.

I know me posting this probably won't change anything. that's okay, we move forward. thanks for reading, guys - and enjoy the new chapter of Untangled <3

Untangled (original): ‘The room held in perfect, serene stillness. Dust motes floated through the air, illuminated by the streams of sunlight pouring through the stained glass windows.’

Plus Et En Vous: ‘The room sits in perfect, serene stillness. Dust floats through the air, illuminated by the sunlight pouring through the stained glass windows…’

Untangled (original): 'The trophy cabinet in the corner was polished to an almost painful shine (...) rows and rows of gleaming medals and cups and badges of honour all lined up…'

Plus Et En Vous: ‘...The trophy cabinet by the corner, polished to an almost painful shine...rows and rows of gleaming medals, cups and badges of honour all lined up...’

Untangled (original): ‘“...Outside,” said the girl, simply. Cass felt an odd chill run down her spine. Outside.’

Plus Est End Vous: '“Outside," she replies (...) A chill runs up her spine by the way she says it. Outside.’
