Curious about everyone’s ideas so, if you were in the writing room right now and could overwrite and take over 9.18 and early S10
What would you write/make happen?
I’m going to completely ignore what we saw in the promo for this, just saying.
-The first thing I do is reveal that Athena working with Detective Hooks was all a ruse to take him down. Everyone is raging against the Theo plot line, but Athena literally just trusted this clearly shady ass dude without even thinking about it. So she had a mic or second body camera hidden somewhere on her she can give Gabi later to use as evidence.
-Eddie and Hen are reaching out to several anti-ICE organizations and relaying the situation of the immigrants to them in an attempt to get them help. They end up getting connected to an immigration attorney, and that combined with Athena finding out the truth about Hooks gets the immigrants released.
-Buck learns that Theo is getting taken in by a family member that lives in the city (y’all know where I’m going with this lol) and he talks to Maddie about how he’d kind of hoped he could take him. Maddie tells him he would’ve been good for Theo. He wonders if that’s true and Maddie assures him he would’ve been because she sees it every time he’s with Jee and Nash.
-The big emergency is a crashed chopper. Yes, Tommy is in it. Yes, the 118 is rushing there, not knowing it’s Tommy. When they arrive, Buck realizes who the pilot was by the chopper’s serial number. He goes absolutely ballistic, but Chimney, Hen and Eddie hold him back and tell him to stay put. Buck says that he can’t, not this shortly after Connor and Kameron and not when it’s Tommy. Chim is clearly conflicted, but decides to let Buck work on the helicopter. So Buck and Harry are working on one side, and Chim and Ravi on the other, and Buck and Harry get to Tommy first. He’s so out of it that he doesn't recognize them, and starts begging them to save them because he just took in his nephew, who was recently orphaned, and he doesn't have anyone else anymore. Buck doesn't put two and two together yet, but gets more determined to safe Tommy now. Together, Buck, Harry, Chim and Ravi get him out and Buck hops onto the ambulance while Eddie and Hen are working on him.
-In the hospital, we get a scene with May and Ravi where he tells her about Buck’s visceral reaction to the helicopter. May says that of course Buck flew off the handle, she would too if had been Ravi. Ravi smiles and says he hopes Buck and Tommy can figure it out. Then we get a Mayvi kiss we really should’ve gotten already.
-When Tommy wakes up, Buck is sitting by his bed. It’s awkward, obviously. Buck says he was worried Tommy might actually die. Tommy apologizes for worrying him, and for not reaching out after Bobby’s funeral, but Buck tells him he gets it. Buck is the one who says he wants to try again. He says he tried to move on and date again, but nothing feels like it did with Tommy. Yes, he asks “What are you doing on Saturday.” Tommy agrees to try again, which is when he brings up that he has a kid to take care of now because his cousin died recently, which is when the door to his hospital room opens and a nurse brings Theo in. Buck’s like “Wait, what?” and Tommy reveals he was either Connor or Kameron’s cousin. Buck laughs and goes “Oh, we really need to talk to each other more” and the scene ends.
-End-Of-Season montage features everyone celebrating Nash’s first birthday. We see Theo play with Jee and Mara, Chris and Denny are hanging out with Harry, and then Nash takes his first wobbly steps to Maddie and Chim’s delight. We see shot of everyone being happy and content, including Buck and Tommy sitting at a table, holding hands and smiling at each other.
-If Tim gave me a mandatory “Bait Buddie” mandate, I’d throw in a shot of Eddie looking at Tevan suspiciously in a way that can easily be explained as him being protective and not trusting Tommy not to break Buck’s heart again, but the Buddies can interpret as jealousy.
For S10, I have two things.
A. Buck and Theo get a formal ADHD diagnosis. Tommy is obviously supportive about it.
B. Eddie finds a condom in Chris’ pocket when doing laundry and it freaks him the fuck out. This leads to a talk with the team that makes him realize that as much as he loves Chris and would never trade him away, he effectively lost his twenties and the club haunting and hooking up that would usually entail, which in turn leads to him getting a casual sex arc. (Seriously, #LetEddieFuck) idk how, but it would somehow end with him dating Alex, because I like her and thought they were cute and had potential.
