Hi Elyse! Paradise Lost has been on the news here in Colombia (obviously) but the media was more neutral. They focused a little more in Benicio because he's and oscar winner actor & is playing Pablo, but they named Josh as the big star from THG :) However, people aren't happy with the news of the movie, colombians are tired with pop culture representation of drug trafficking (we call it narcoculture) But I'm ok if the movie's accurate with real events and shows the real problematic of it.
Hey Alejandra, (SOooooo sorry this is such a late reply)
Thank you so much for sharing!! I love getting your perspective on PL, since hello, it's all about a very trying time in Columbia and I think it's important to get a naive's opinion on it. Since most of us are outsiders and don't have a intimate knowledge of what all happened.
I agree with you, I mean there's PLENTY of Horrible stuff to drudge up in US History and I'm all for it as long as it's accurate. I completely understand the burn out on it in Columbia (love the nickname for it) though. I guess because it is a more recent history, it's an easy trope for film-makers to use. C'mon Hollywood, this bit's gone stale!! (I personally would love to see a film about the Peace process/revolution that Columbia has been going through) I mean, I'm happy they're doing an actual Escobar film just because since other films were either so small or mired down in production hell, it's good to see this story come to light in a major way.
