okay so 

idris elba’s character - sean briar - is your regular disgraced CIA agent who doesn’t go by the rules and everyone is like SHIT HE’S A LOOSE CANNON also he has ridiculous control issues and he’s like I PRETEND I DON’T CARE BUT I CARE

on the other side richard madden’s - michael mason - is basically this bundle of Ridiculous Abandonment Issues All Around who steals shit like a pro and does the Eventual Right Thing anyway 

they sass each other like crazy tho michael sasses briar more, briar is just like ‘shit you’re terrible but I think I like you’

THE FIRST SCENE THEY HAVE TOGETHER AFTER THE ROOF ESCAPE IS BASICALLY BRIAR INTERROGATING MICHAEL WHILE HE’S TIED TO THIS CHAIR OKAY, and like at some point he lets him free so he can see if he really is that good at stealing wallets and then he ties his wrists to the chair again but michael steals the pocket knife from him and gets himself free AND MAN IT WAS HOT and like I spent that scene thinking ‘yeah but that same scenario has good bdsm potential if they tried to re-do it’

THEN THEY SPEND THE ENTIRE MOVIE BASICALLY SASSING AND RELUCTANTLY LIKING EACH OTHER AND LIKE AT SOME POINT MICHAEL REALIZED BRIAR LIED TO HIM WHEN HE WENT INTO SOME SOB STORY ABOUT HIS CHILDHOOD AND HE’S ENTIRELY HURT ABOUT IT BC HE THOUGHT THEY WERE SHARING SOMETHING

briar knows michael’s file by heart but michael basically guesses what’s on briar’s file in ten seconds THAT SCENE WAS GLORIOUS

and then they get to the point where they communicate by looks and listen man michael is exactly the kind of pushy bottom who sasses a lot who’d enjoy being tied up nicely like hell and briar screams ‘person who needs to be in charge in healthy situations’ never mind that they have complementary issues

in short watch this bloody movie and cry about how those two are otp material with me because I’m thirsting and there’s like three fanfics on ao3 two of which are meh and I’m sad

also pls imagine the above scenarios with idris elba and richard madden okay

It’s salvageable, but I’m not going to win any baking shows.  I made a two layer cake, and the bottom layer tore, so I sort of adhered it back together using frosting.  And now I’m out of frosting so I’ll have to run to the store for more supplies.  Generally a fail.
