LOGLINE: Alex Schuman is an inquisitive journalist, husband and father who dives headfirst into the brave new world of entrepreneurship when he quits his stable job and starts his own business. Based on the podcast.

 Cast (thus far)

Zach Braff (Scrubs) will play Alex Schuman.

Tiya Sircar (The Good Place) will play Alex’s wife, Noush, an attorney.

Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) will play Eddie Cirillo, Alex’s fast-talking, slick, confident and currently unemployed cousin. When Alex decides to branch out on his own, he partners up with Eddie because “he went to business school and can sell anything.”

Hillary Anne Matthews (New Girl) will play Deirdre, the woman who also quits her job to follow Braff’s character on his new endeavor.

this will be a single-camera comedy

this pilot will be shot in New York City- it is the only one of the 32 half-hour broadcast pilots ordered to be filmed outside of Los Angeles

Chris Sacca (Shark Tank) will will guest star as himself in the pilot- the role likely will become recurring if the project is picked up to series. The show is based on Alex Blumberg’s Gimlet Media podcast Start Up, and Sacca is an actual investor in Gimlet Media.
