dean devlin does love putting christian kane in trios but i do enjoy how all three sets of them have different vibes from each other like eliot is parker and hardison's weird traumatized shelter dog who bites people and jacob, cassandra, and ezekiel are feral kittens brought into an animal shelter who bonded so tightly they can't be adopted separately and alex is the stray cat that ernesto and kai found behind the dumpster of the filipino equivalent of a denny's
Almost Paradise 2x1 - "The Magellan Cross"
One thing I love about Almost Paradise is complete reversal of White Savior trope. Alex is still badass - he's skilled, experienced and competent ex-DEA agent. However, being thrust into the world with drastically different culture, customs and way of life, that's the only thing he is competent in. In everything else he's a complete dilettante. He constantly needs help from his friends-locals with pretty much everything in his life, more often than not needs his butt saved, and regularly falls on his face trying to do things "american way". He's not above being humbled, though, and open to learn and adjust, that's why he quickly makes friends who "adopt a pathetic wet dog of a white man" and genuinely grow to love him.
All Because Of 'The Cole Effect'
Walter Brothers x Mother!Reader
Summary: Imagine it's you instead of Katherine as the mother of these crazy-ass boys.
Author's Note: I couldn't find a GIF with all the boys together, so I just put an image. (Y/O/B/N) = Your Older Brother's Name. Also, for those who are American and say, 'that's the wrong spelling of mum', just letting ya'll know that it's how we spell it here in Australia, so, yeah. 😁 Enjoy the fic.
You had just gotten a call from the school about your boys getting into a fight. And not just with anyone. With EACH OTHER. And not just yelling. Physical. PHYSICAL. You were absolutely furious.
So here you were. In the Principles Office. Standing in front of the boys that you call your sons, well, the four you call your sons, and the two you call nephews. Cole, Danny, Nathan, Lee, Isaac and Alex.
You were angrily pacing up and down in front of the boys, letting out frustrated huffs. Danny whispered to Cole,
"We're in deep shit."
Cole only rolled his eyes at that and stated, "Woman, stop pacing. It's making me nervous," as his arms were crossed. Isaac, Lee and Nathan gave him the 'wtf. You did not just call our mother/auntie woman in that tone' look.
"Fighting? Really?! You six fought each other?!! I thought, 'Oh, they were probably defending each other, but no! You were beating each other up!" I vent. You continued your pacing before adding on,
"Grounded! All of you are grounded! Which means, no girls, no parties, no phones, and no TV, which also means, no video games!"
"Are you f-ing kidding me, mate?!" Cole groaned. The rest of the boys grumbled in agreement.
"Does it look like I'm kidding, Cole?" I asked, giving them all 'the mum' look.
"Ma, I'm sorry, okay? But it's not my fault they hate 'the Cole Effect'." Cole shrugged.
"That's what this whole thing was about?!" You exclaimed. "You bashed each other up because of 'the Cole Effect'! I did not raise you boys like this!"
"Mum-" Alex started, but you interrupted him.
"No. I don't want to hear anyone say another word 'til we get home! Assess in the car, now!"
You began walking out, and the boys followed. You had a long night ahead of you. And you also had to tell your husband, George, aka the father of these idiot boys you call sons, that they got suspended and in trouble.
Two hours had passed, and the boys were sitting at the table in the kitchen as you cooked dinner. Will, your oldest son, before Cole, was picking up Parker and Jordan from their school, while Benny, your youngest, was watching TV in the living room. Jackie, who Alex and Cole were fighting over, had been dropped home by a friend, so she was up in her room, your old painting room, which you turned into a bedroom for her when you became her legal guardian after her mum, dad, and sister died in a tragic car accident. Her mum was your best friend. And it was in her will that you took care of Jackie. That's what you've been doing these past few months.
Will then came in with Parker and Jordan and came up to you, giving you a kiss on the cheek.
"Hi, Ma."
"How's Hayley?" You asked with a teasing smirk forming on your lips. Will rolled his eyes,
"Mum!" He groaned.
"Well?!" You raised your eyebrow. Will sighed before smiling at you,
"The future wife is fine. Very fine."
You whacked his shoulder. "William John Jefferson Walter!" It was clear you did not approve of the comment, only because it had a double meaning.
"I'm sorry." The oldest replied, putting his palms out in mock surrender. While you were talking to Will, the boys tiptoed to the living room to play 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag'.
"I said no TV!" You shout from the kitchen, to which you hear a pile of groans and protests in response. Will took over to stir the food in the pot while you went to the living room, taking the controllers from the six boys and grabbing all their games, putting them somewhere they will never find them.
"Oh, come on, that's not necessary!" Isaac chirped up.
"That's taking this grounding to a whole other level! Ma, please?! Come on, we need to get ready for when 'Shadows' comes out. We're sorry, we won't fight again, just please!?" Alex added. Cole then jumped in,
"Just forget it, guys. She's not gonna give in."
These boys. You thought to yourself. They loved Assassin's Creed, thanks to your older brother, their uncle, (Y/O/B/N). He got them hooked, and they literally wanted every game. Black Flag is their favourite. 'Shadows' is short for 'Assassin's Creed: Shadows'. The boys have been playing every single game for God only knows how long. Could you really ground them? No, they were you're boys. Did you have to so they could learn a lesson? Yes.
You let out a sigh, "Look, I'm sorry, boys, okay, but you need to learn that being jealous about 'The Cole Effect' and fighting about it isn't the way to handle it. Besides, it's not Cole's fault that he got most of the charm."
The boys were about to side-eye you, but before they could, you added,
"I said MOST! Not all."
They just rolled their eyes. Nathan looked up after being silent for a while and said, "Mum, on behalf of all of us, we're sorry for fighting each other, but please, 'Assassin's Creed' is one of the few things we like, have in common that we can play and talk about without fighting. So, without it, all we'll do is be miserable and fight. Please, just let us off this one time?"
Nathan was right, the six boys didn't really have much in common that they could do togther without fighting. Assassin's Creed was one of those things that kept them together.
You knew if you took the games away, the house would be miserable. But you had to talk to your husband first.
"We'll see. Just, let me talk to your father first. He needs to know that you've been suspended from school for two weeks and why." You said, looking a the six boys sitting on the couch.
And right on cue, George walked through the door, "Honey, I'm home!"
When no one responded, he knew something had happened. He let out a huff as he walked into the living room and crossed his arms, "Okay, what happened. I can feel the tension here, so spill."
"They got suspened from school." You say. George let out a frustrated sigh as he looked at the boys,
"It was about 'The Cole Effect', wasn't it?"
The boys nodded in response. He knew for a long time that it was an issue between the boys.
"Did you ground them?" He asked you.
"Yeah, but they want to be let off this one time." You nodded as you explained. Assassin's Creed. He thought to himself. He could tell just by the looks on their faces. Those games meant so much to the boys.
"If you've promised your mother that this won't happen again, and I mean really promised her, then I'll allow it that you will be let off, just this once." He sternly looked at them, one by one.
"Done." The six teenagers said coherently. You went back to the kitchen and continued getting dinner ready, allowing Will to go pick Hayley up to join us for dinner.
After dinner, Hayley and Will went back to their apartment, but everyone else sat in the living room, just to be together, even though everyone was doing different things. Jackie was doing homework and also helping Parker with hers. You were sitting on George's lap and helping Jordan with his homework. Benny was still playing with his toys. And the six boys who got in trouble were playing 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag' and sharing the controller every chapter or mission of the game. At the moment in the game, the characters were sailing on the ship and singing sea shanties.
The boys were singing along as Isaac, who had the controller now, was exploring the ship to pass the time in the game.

Cole and Jackie had locked eyes with each other throughout the living room adventures, and you could see something between them. You then snuggled closer to George.
"You wanna make another one?" He had whispered playfully in your ear. You whacked his chest lightly as you laughed,
"Cheeky!"
"Love you, too." He smiled, giving your cheek a soft kiss.
