As Gods As Writers As Artists

About four years ago my brother and I were talking about an old story he used to write. I asked to read it out of sheer curiosity, I never would have imagined that it would be this amazing diverse, well crafted, impactful story. That was the beginning of the “As Gods” endeavor. His amazing writing was brought  to life on pages with my drawings. And as I evolved as an artist so did his characters and his stories. I will forever be grateful for his generosity to let me into his world. Four years later, he’s on the second book and I’m still drawing his characters.

As Gods has created this purpose for me, like a flame inside of me that always is there to push me to be a better artist. To continue to better my craft, and to keep putting out work. Alexis has always been so grateful and loving of my attempts to embody his vision. From the first drawings that were mediocre at best, to the huge canvas piece and comic panels I did this Christmas. His gratitude was always that push and affirmation that I needed to believe in myself as an artist. He makes me a better artist by challenging me with his new ideas and always complimenting my art on the way.

He is my business partner, my confidant, my voice of wisdom, my role model, my best friend, and more than anything my brother.

I could do a million art festivals, thousands of artist alleys, but NOTHING will compare to how great it feels to see his reaction to his stories being brought to life. It means so much more coming from someone who I think so highly of.

If one day As Gods gets sold and turned into a comic, or God willing, a animated show. I pray that I can be a part of it. I know in my heat of hearts that it will go so so far. And I’m just grateful to be along for the ride.

So, Alexis. If by chance you are reading this. Thank you for molding me into the artist I am today. But also for teaching me to be open minded young woman. I am the person I am because of you and all you do for me. Thank you for letting me become a part of the As Gods family. Only way from here is up.
