They’d each had some time and space to themselves. Hyunjin had done more than enough thinking since he walked out of Alex’s place and they broke up. He’d talked with his brother, with Taemin, with Beth. That by itself was already an improvement. Talking about things that were on his mind. Facing them instead of burying them and ignoring everything. Jin missed Alex. He really did. Did he deserve a second chance with him? Probably not. But he wanted to try. He could try, and if it didn’t work out, then it didn’t work out. That was the worse case scenario in all this. At least there could be complete closure.
Taemin had said Alex had been away for some meeting but he was back now, hopefully meaning this wouldn’t be a bad time. So, Hyunjin found himself staring at his phone for probably a good twenty minutes until he pressed send, asking Alex if he was home and if he had a minute to talk. Which some of those minutes, he might have been a little distracted by the pup he ended up taking home from the festival. That was a decision he probably should have thought more about but with Jae moving out, he figured it’d be nice to still have someone to come home to. And maybe use as an ice breaker... Once he’d gotten an okay from Alex, Jin told him he’d be over in a bit, scooping the puppy up and bringing the little guy along with him.
Standing outside Alex’s door, he knocked, and when Alex answered, Jin waved one of the dog’s paws at him with the smallest of smiles. “Can we come in? I... wanna talk.”
