Blessed Yule, Shana! Time travel, please?
Stiles wakes up shorter, skinnier, and with no alpha pack or darach in sight. He checks his phone, then his computer, then goes downstairs to find an actual real newspaper, and they all say the same thing.
It could be a trick. It could be a hallucination. But the cursed tree had exploded and Stiles had sort of expected it to kill him and now he's woken up over a year in the past, so maybe it has.
It's sort of the perfect time to stop some really fucked up shit from happening, or get himself killed trying, which, whatever. It might not even be the first time.
He doesn't call Scott. If they are doing this all again, that's not a mistake he's making a second time. He has no idea if his dad's working late or just not home yet or what. He leaves a note for him on the fridge just in case he comes home and Stiles isn't here, but hopefully he won't need it. He brings his phone but turns it off and then he's getting into his jeep - in significantly better shape than the one he'd last sat in - and drives to the Hale preserve.
The moon is huge and fat in the sky. He takes a flashlight, just in case, but it's bright enough that he doesn't really need it. He's made it to the burned out husk of the Hale home when he hears a low growl. His heart starts going doubletime as he stills, eyes scanning for the source of the sound.
There's a massive black wolf with their mouth pulled back, baring a set of sharp, gleaming teeth.
Stiles lets out a sigh of relief. A full transformation means this is who he was hoping to find and not who he feared he'd find. He holds up his hands, fear ebbing away as he grins. "I come in peace! We should talk about your uncle." The growl abruptly cuts off, but the wolf doesn't move. "Um, this might be easier if you had opposable thumbs and stuff. Laura? Right? I mean, I assume, I sure hope there isn't another alpha running around right now."
There hadn't been last time, but also there had been an alpha pack in his time so -
The wolf smoothly transforms into a very pretty - and very naked - woman. Laura's a lot hotter when she isn't dead and cut in half. He lifts his eyes to her face mostly thanks to imagining Derek's reaction if he hears about Stiles oggling his sister.
"You're human," Laura says suspiciously. "How do you know about my uncle? Or me? You're not a hunter."
"I could be!" he squawks. She raises an eyebrow. "I mean, I'm not, hunters suck, like, loads, as far as I'm concerned." Alison is the best hunter they knew and considering what she did to Erica and Boyd, that's not saying much. "Anyway. Don't worry about what I am. Worry about how, yay, your uncle has sort of physically recovered from the fire, but, sad, he's off his fucking rocker."
She frowns. "Maybe you should come in."
"To the creepy burned out house? No thank you." He's been in it plenty and it never got any less sad and depressing. Also, it's filthy. "Why don't you put some clothes on and we can talk about this at my place. I have pizza rolls and working plumbing."
Laura snorts, eyes bright. "Well, if there's pizza rolls."
Awesome. Why couldn't he have met her the first go around? She's already laughing at him. It took months to get that out of Derek.
