Happy birthday, Alf Wight! 🥳💗 He would be 108 today. Lots of thanks to him for sharing his stories that have been getting me through tough times.
Overall, I’m enjoying the All Creatures Great and Small remake. It’s very faithful to the original; they’re even using some of the same music. And Samuel West is practically channeling the late Robert Hardy, which I imagine it would be difficult not to do.
In fact, it’s so faithful to the original, I’m a bit confused about what the point of remaking it was. However, at this point I’m so sick of shitty remakes that a decent one seems like its own justification.
I do like that they’ve made James Scottish like the real-life Alf Wight/James Herriot. But I’m not sure why they felt the need to make the housekeeper so young and beautiful. Is it illegal to put an average-looking woman on TV in 2021?
