acting so smug around all the geometers because their final object is spec Z (number theory) like girl u r obsessed with meeee. dont look at my diophantine equations those have nothing to do with u
how to do algebraic geometry
step 1. assume X is affine.
step 2.

step 3. solved!
I hate algebra<3
My 3.5h long study session this morning was worth it, I managed to work through the entirety of linear algebra :D It went pretty well at first but once I approached the sin/cos section things started to get confusing (sticky notes didn’t help either). But hey, I’m done with it for now and maybe things will start making sense once I work on actual problem solving/old exams? Let’s hope for that…looking forward to doing stochastic tomorrow :)
Plan for today: continue the Bernd drawing lol, journal, start a new book
Going to be taking part in an "advanced algebraic geometry" course at the other local uni in a few weeks; it's supposed to cover schemes and sheaves (sheaf cohomology of complex varieties etc) and eventually culminate in an introduction to the Grothendieck-Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch theorem, I am so excited for it
One of those occurrences where mathematics makes use of a German word!
so it's occurred to me that one of the things that's tripping me up with algebraic geometry is that my commutative algebra is much weaker than I thought it was and for this reason I will be facing off with atiyah-macdonald; wish me luck
