“TaAaAaaAAAAAaaaAAKE OOooOOOoN MEeEeEeEeEeeeeE!”
A rather offtune female voice could be heard coming near the karaoke machine, at the platform next to it, there was a drunk-looking woman in her mid-thirties, singing her heart out as some other drunks cheer her on. Higuruma knew that woman well, it was his legal assistant.
A Karaoke bar isn’t usually Higuruma’s scene, he would rather drink some tea and read a nice book, or even stay overtime at his office, but his assistant insisted on these ‘Happy Hours’, according to her, it’s to make sure he ‘doesn’t lose his mind with overwork’. But honestly, Higuruma could tell that was just an excuse to get wasted.
Well, although Higuruma isn’t really the singing type (Unless he’s really drunk), this was a nice atmosphere overall. As his assistant was singing, the man was sitting at the bar, many files in front of him. A constant boring environment dulls the mind, so he can use all this agitation once in a while.
“ Could you bring me some Chardonnay? ” The male requested as he kept his eyes on his work files. It seemed that nothing could break his concentration... well, until he notices a single other person at the bar a couple of stools away from him.
Unlike the rowdy crowd near the karaoke machine, this person seemed a tad more reserved. It was a young woman, probably in her mid to later twenties. Her eyes were filled with something... unsettling, some sort of hidden anger, to what is anyone’s guess, but it’s definitely the type of eyes that the lawyer was used to.
“ Hey, could you also get one for the lady over there? On me. ” He asked the bartender, Higuruma never have much of a chance to meet new people due to his constant work. And after getting divorced a few times, he had to admit that his personal skills were a little rusty. Perhaps he could get a conversation going with the woman.
