touching their elbow to get their attention - hana 2 sei wuw
@offestivities | touching | accepting!
if sei is honest, he never feels a thing when he kills another demon. there isn't any guilt or sympathy -- even the disgust at cannibalizing his kind is easy enough to push down, ignore until a time when it's more convenient to brood over his diet. living as long as he has comes with the advantage of learning how to compartmentalize, and sei does it almost too well.
he will admit, though, that something stirs in the pit of his stomach when hana witnesses his appetite for the first time.
she shouldn't be there. sei told her not to be, sent her off to follow another lead because he can feel the hunger gnawing at his insides. he knows that if he finds their target first, he'll have to consume a considerable amount of the other demon to be satiated, and he knows that it won't be pretty. he shouldn't care how it may affect hana because she's a slayer and surely she's seen enough gore in her time to stomach it, but all sei can think about is the look on kaiya's face the first time he ate in front of her. he... he doesn't want to see anyone else look at him like that, least of all someone he's partnered with ( even if that someone seems to sort of hate him at times ).
but of course hana stumbles upon him anyway, be it accident or on purpose. it's a bloody mess that she walks into, crimson dripping from sei's lips, his hands, and it turns his uniform a deeper shade of black. none of it is his. the demon wasn't very difficult to defeat, all too easy to restrain in the end and just as easy to tear apart. he must look like something out of a nightmare by now, covered in the evidence of his hunger. but he doesn't want hana to see his appearance nor does he want to see her expression, so he keeps his back to her as he wipes at his mouth with his sleeve ( no doubt it won't do much good other than smearing the blood further ).
" you should hurry and behead him. " he lazily gestures to the demon currently tied to a tree. " the ropes are soaked in wisteria essence, but still. no need to put it off. "
a touch upon his elbow stops sei from making a quick exit. he becomes rigid as a statue, heart jumping and stomach twisting. he shouldn't care if hana sees him like this. he shouldn't care at all, but he refuses to turn and face her anyway. instead he shrugs her off, steps away from her, and mutters, " i'll meet you at the inn, " before disappearing altogether.
how stupid to care if a slayer sees him as a monster. how stupid to run away like a child. maybe he should stop accusing others of idiocy when he so clearly indulges in it himself.
