a cool internet trick is that if you start liking pictures of cats, then The Algorythms start to show you pictures of cats instead of angry people who want your eyeballs
I am currently also managing a secondary Tumblr for my music podcast that I run.
So now, I have a project that I thought up the seeds of for a little over a year before it actually happened.
Introducing: The Algorhythms Podcast. Every (main) episode, we will be ranking (from least-to-most) all the main albums of a band's discography. In the future, there will be side episodes (like Top 10 Songs, Top solos, etc) to accompany the main episodes. But I figured I would have the first episode serve as an extended introduction and as a training ground for establishing a groove between the co-hosts.
I know my cohosts through convos one-on-one with me and them. But this is the first time my co-hosts (Soren and Duke) have spoken with each other. I think they hit it off pretty well.
I am also in-talks with a potential video editor for eventually uploading these onto YouTube. This same person I'm in-talks with is also an artist and I can commission stuff like character portraits and a proper logo from him.
While this episode is focused on Queen (and yes, we are counting Flash Gordon and The Cosmos Rocks, so 16 albums total), the 2nd and 3rd episodes will be recorded within the next month. Episode 2 will be focused on Van Halen (Soren's pick) and Episode 3 will be based on Coldplay (Duke's pick).
I personally don't care if this blows up or not. Sure, becoming huge would be nice. But I like doing this enough that that is--in a way--it's own reward.
I may ask some folks affiliated with a given artist in the future as a guest someday. For instance, I know that one of my old college professors would not pass up appearing on a future David Bowie episode someday.
I should note that the mic quality is rough (the episode was recorded with laptops and phones) and I did some sorting about, but it IS a first episode. I think of it as a raw pilot episode that serves to establish the foundation that I will later refine.
