little bit of a story im probaboly not going to write but this scene is good

It’s an offhand comment, perhaps even a joke, if in poor taste.

“Well done, my boy. Perhaps I should’ve named you heir as well.”

Pellinore laughs when he says it, and Tor matches his tone as best he can. It stings that it has to be a joke, that Pellinore finds it funny because why would he ever let Tor have the throne. At the same time it warms Tor to think he almost makes the cut, that his birth father thinks highly of him at all.

And then he sees Algove’s eyes go hard and cold, full of resentment and envy.

Because it’s not a joke, it’s a game. One none of them can ever win.

so Tor and Algove are both killed by Launcelot during the rescue of guinevere (sometimes anyways) and Lamorak and Percival both die in the grail quest (for different reasons but still) and Lamorak's favourite brother was Tor so the feeling's probably mutual. since Tor is likely older than algove algove probs saw Tor as a threat to his position as first born which is basically all he had. Conversly Algove and Percival are best buds.

And then Lamorak and Percival are gone, which isn't how it was supposed to be because they're the young ones. because lamorak was the best dualist. because percival was the chosen one. because pellinore loved Lamorak best and Percival was perfect.

And now Tor and Algove are left alone with an empty castle.
