'ALICE FINNAY II' Micron 08 Pen on Bristol Paper 19x24in $450 Unframed Alice (@bebe7l) will be the last artist I feature for Look Gallery which will officially closing tomorrow, Oct 30th. Look has displayed and sold her jewlery for years. Alice is an artist of multiple media which includes sculpture, jewlery, drawing, vaious mixed media and even repairing pigeons. She actually finds injured pigeons here in SF, repaires their injuries and nurses them back to health! Originally from various parts of Missouri, Alice moved to SF after spending 7 years in San Diego. She recieved her MFA in sculpture from SFAI in 1992. Her sculptures are enourmous in size, which caused her to rethink her approach dye to living in an SF studio apt. located on the TL. Pictured here are some of her leather pueces that she began in 1997 as a way of reconciling her Missouri roots while feeling out of place during her early years in SF. She took traditional leather tooling patterns and changed them to fit her own means of expression. Her meticulious paper drawings exist in both large and smaller sizes, some of which took up to 6 months to create. At some pint she had turbed to coporate America to earn a living while pursuing her art. Many of the materials used in her paper work are stolen media from her corporate jobs which she took as a way of reconciling her involvement in the corporate lifestyle. This was a way for her to have corporate Anerica nurture her soul and creativilty in some way. She sees her jewlery work as an extension of her prefered media of large scale sculpture. These works are currently available at Look. She works with sterling silver with 14 carat gold filler, 22 carrot gold vermeil and utilizes precious and semi precious stones in her work. She began showing them at look circa 2012.
