How different is it from the original Sun/Moon? Is it different enough to make it worth picking up if you completed the previous version?
It’s very much like Pokemon Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum, in that its basically a third version of that gen’s game, but with added features, elements, and more. Therefore its plot from what I’ve seen so far is basically the same as Sun/Moon but with a few differences, and it seems like the thing with Rainbow Rocket down the road will differentiate it even more. Note that I’m not SUPER far into it yet - I just beat Olivia last night - so maybe the plot changes even more soon, but I don’t know yet. I personally don’t mind playing the same story again, because I loved the plot of Sun/Moon, and I love the characters like Guzma and Hau and ESPECIALLY Lillie, who I contend is the best, most well-written and developed character in the entire series.
Ultimately if you love Pokemon or you really enjoyed Sun/Moon I’d say you should pick one of the new games up, since its still the same Pokemon goodness as always. I’d recommend it, but that’s also because I loved the story and experience of Sun/Moon a lot. If you don’t feel like playing a game that’s mostly the same as its predecessor, maybe give it a pass, or wait a while before playing it. It WAS only last year that Sun/Moon came out after all. Maybe it’d feel fresher that way.
If you do pick it up though, beware the Rotom Dex. Maybe its just me... but I hate this annoying little bastard now.
