Spoiler Free Alien:Romulus discussion

Gonna get hate for this but Alien:Romulus was not the best

As I told my brother, I did not hate it nor dislike it. It just could have been better.

I went in with a "casual fan" mindset rather than a critic or really invested fan one, I'm trying not to be biased about it. I feel that the good scores/reviews are pretty biased because of nostalgia and it is better compared to Alien³ and Alien:Resurrection.

But it just isn't the best?

Act I had a good buildup

Act II unfortunately was not very good and the build up from Act I went downwards instead

Act III did save the film however, but even then it could have gone differently

And as a fan, I dislike when references are relied on too heavily. Obviously there were many wonderful references, but there were some that should have been left out rather than copied. Romulus lacked a bit of uniqueness to it (BUT it still is original enough). Really trying to put the fan service aside but...oof.

As my brother said, if you're a casual and you haven't watched ALIEN then you won't really mind it?
