Did I get distracted by my prompt for today being alien planet? Yes, yes I did, am I loving drawing the scenery/ backrounds and finding ways to fit sides in later? Definitely, it’s great fun.
Have a snippet about what’s happening:
Their town was small, an exploration settlement still establishing itself as their people sought to know where their rivers go. The stars were clear in their paths and destinations or at least they had been until the previous night.
Now with both the ringed one and the opal eye high in the sky it was bright enough to see the star that intruded into their skies months back and the night before hurtled closer to the ground of their planet. It looked like a vehicle when Logan got in sight of it as more than a blur on the horizon. He took a moment to record that observation, knowing that if by some miracle there was life on the star that landed any record would be necessary.
“Giant Grasshopper?” The noise sounded like it should be words, being called from the blobby clear object beyond the metallic shape. Well Logan wanted to call it clear, for nothing they'd discovered held that colour without items being visible through it, but the figure? Possible figure, was definitely opaque.
“You look like you're writing.” If that was speech, as the pattern suggested there was no point in Logan attempting to reply. He couldn't understand the figure and it wouldn't understand him, still he trotted over to it only refraining from a sprint for fear of scaring it.
Peering closely, he started to sketch the form, extendibles stretching to try and see where the limbs it was clearly missing would have grown.
The form rattled, juggling slightly and Logan backed up a few steps in case it was some form of battle warning, but instead it reached up to remove it's head, only to yank it back on seconds later. Noises had been coming from both the head it had removed and the smaller, ovoid underneath it. “It's a grasshopper, Virgil, of course I should be able to – Okay, but I didn't struggle to – Kiddo, I did pass all the exams you did – It's sentient even if it hasn't spoken”
The garbled speech Logan could hear had random pauses that the earlier calls didn't have. Perhaps there was some form of communicator in the removable head. It didn't seem to be vicious at least so Logan turned away, leaving it to its garbled talk. He wanted to investigate the metallic shape now.
God, I literally have an entire page of my sketchbook filled with alien logan. I even have a small thing about how the antennae change whenever he is feeling certain emotions.........
When your alien friend liked to look at the sky and he's super adorable
