December Drabbles Day 15
Sanders Sides: Roman, Logan, VirgilÂ
Blurb: Things would be so much easier if only their human, Virgil, would talk to them.Â
Inspiration: While I already answered @letthefandomsbeginâs two sentence prompt of:Â Logan looked at Roman, eyes dark. "I need you to really think about what you're saying, because you're going to hurt Virgil even more if you do not." This other potential fic idea wouldnât leave my head. Soo I wrote it out. ^^;;Â
Fic Type: g/t fic, Alien!AU, Alien!Roman, Alien!Logan, Fae!Virgil

Logan looked at Roman, eyes dark. "I need you to really think about what you're saying, because you're going to hurt Virgil even more if you do not."Â Â
Roman bit back a retort, glancing down to where their little human crouched on the table, watching them with eyes that held a cautious intelligence that only became more apparent the longer Virgil was in their care.Â
It wasnât like he hadnât thought this whole plan through, but the protectiveness of his mate over the boy was something unexpected.
Of course, how could Logan have not grown fond of their little foundling after nursing the poor human back to health after they had rescued him from his dismal living conditions?Â
They had been through every setback, every scare with the small male in working to keep him alive. Even pulling all nighters researching the best methods to ensure that their human could return to full health and safely achieve his full metamorphosis from scrawny, boney, four limbed Human into his final form of a full grown Fae.Â
Not that Virgil was full grown yet. Roman was still hoping that he would end up with a tail, but he had successfully formed his third pair of limbs, a beautiful pair of black and purple wings as soft as the hide of a baby Seleen, during their last cycle of Garvitâs Ring.Â
Wings that their human needed to use in order for them to gain enough strength so that he could eventually fly.
Roman ran his fingers over his horns, sitting back in his chair with a sigh as he turned to his mate. âIâm just saying, a mindlink would make this easier.âÂ
Far easier than the pantomiming theyâd been doing up until this point. He could sense how wary Virgil was of them. Feel the panic swirl of the boy's thoughts whenever Roman or Logan had to physically move one of his limbs to get him to understand what they wanted from him.Â
âOr it could send him spiraling further than he already has.â Logan retorted, indigo waves flashing across his dark skin as his ears twitched, his attention too on Virgil. âYou saw how he reacted to his wings! He doesnât understand what is happening to him and if we introduce too much--â
âBut talking isnât the same as learning how to use a new set of limbs, Lo. Heâs exercising his brain not his muscles!â He spun to his mate, tail twisting to wrap around Loganâs. âIf we could just communicate our intentions clearly to him we could--â
âI know.â Lo exhaled, resting a hand on Romanâs shoulder. âWe could show him we mean no harm, that we merely mean to aid him as he grows. But, Ro--â He grimaced, showing a brief flash of his fangs. âHeâs quite timid compared to the reports of other Humans.âÂ
âTimid?â Roman snorted, touching a small lightning shaped scar on his wrist. Virgil had managed to draw blood from them more than once in the early days of their guardianship over him. He had been quite feral until he realized that he was safe--well safer here with them.
âYou know what I mean.â Logan said, carefully placing a book down on the table, the pages flipped open to a hologram of a Waie fledgling flapping her wings. âHe could have another relapse. I canât--âÂ
He knew. He didnât want another relapse either. The screams the human had let out when he first saw his new wings still haunted them both.Â
At the time Logan had had to physically restrain Virgil to keep him from destroying his new limbs with his own hands and had received quite the series of bites to his fingers in the process.
But those actions, that lack of communication between them had cost them dearly.Â
Virgil had reverted to being just as feral as when theyâd first rescued him after that. Refusing to trust them with anything. Theyâd had to start back at square one and it was frustrating. So frustrating to see all their progress lost in the matter of minutes.Â
âHe didnât relapse five days ago though.â Roman said, tail flicking to wrap around Loganâs.
Five days ago when their humanâs eyes had finally shifted from their baby brown coloration into the more adult shade of a shimmering galaxical violet.
Five days ago, when Roman had successfully formed a telepathic link with their human and clearly communicated to Virgil and had him understand that Roman was only trying to help him and not hurt him further.
Understand and beâŠleery of it. Okay. Frightened by it. Roman could still feel the slight headache behind his eyes from how forcefully Virgil had slammed the âfigurative door,â as Logan would say, on their mindlink.Â
But he hadnât relapsed. No, if anything, Virgil was looking at them more frequently now, brilliant eyes wary, but no longer scared.Â
ThoughâŠ.He glanced down to see their human had moved to his feet, wings trembling where they were folded tightly against his back as he glanced to the holographic image of flight before deliberately turning his back on it.Â
Roman pressed his lips together, running his fingers over his horns. Honestly, they couldnât make it any clearer than that that they wanted him to learn how to fly. Was he purposely not understanding? Purposely refusing? A mind link would do wonders in clarifying the humanâs thought process.
Cautiously he sent out a tendril of reassurance to him and was rewarded as the human jerked, wings half spreading before he snapped them shut.Â
Huh. Virgil was getting better control of that at least. His wings remained folded most of the time now instead of hanging limply from his back dragging across the floor like an oddly shaped cape whenever the human tried to walk anywhere.
Of course, from the swirling tumult of his thoughts, Roman could gather that Virgil was trying to not think about his new limbs. An âif I canât see it then itâs not thereâ philosophy that was...well silly. He doubted the human could just forget the new weights on his back, not when they were a part of him now.
No, it would be better if Virgil would just accept this change and move his wings more. Spread them out at least if he didnât want to flap them yet. Stretch. He could only imagine how cramped the wings had to feel being constantly folded like that.
Roman raised an eyebrow, smirking as the human turned, purple eyes taking on a soft glow as he glared up at him. âHe seems fine to me.âÂ
Couldnât Logan see that the shifting in Virgilâs eye color and therefore, the maturing of his brain to accept a telepathic link could only be a good thing for them?
It meant he and Roman could now communicate their intentions directly to the human--if he would let him--rather than having to rely on pantomime and sifting through Virgilâs tumultuous color and pattern filled mind to interpret whether or not their intentions were understood.
Granted, he knew humans didnât normally use their minds to talk, but if theorists were right, whether he wanted to or not, it would only be a matter of time before Virgilâs brain matured enough to automatically instigate telepathic links with those around him.
His mate huffed as he too watched their human, before sending out his own tentative wave of thought to the human to see his reaction. âWell yes, but we havenât yet seen the full ramifications of that yet.âÂ
Roman fought back the urge to roll his eyes. âBecause youâre not letting us do more than brush the edges of his mind!âÂ
He could get not wanting to overload their human with even more changes. Agreed with it actually. It was better to not force Virgil to run before he was ready to walk when it came to telepathic links...but the anticipation of what they could have was killing him.
Logan exhaled, scooting his chair closer to Romanâs so he could lean against him. âPatience, Ro. While I agree a mind link would be easier, we have to take into consideration how Virgil will react. How heâll feel to have such a method of communication presented to him. We canât just force him before heâs ready.âÂ
He knew. He didnât have to like it though.Â
But surely, Virgil had to realize that those brief seconds of clear communication was a good thing.Â
If their human would only--but no, he knew their human wasnât fond of change, his near hysterical reaction when heâd seen his newly formed wings for the first time proved that. But it didnât stop him from hoping that Virgil would accept his new telepathic ability far quicker than he was accepting his wings. If only--
He sent out another light tap to the humanâs mind. Like a knock on the door. Asking to be let in.Â
âJust think of the possibilities, my love. How he could answer all our questions. How we wouldnât have to guess at what he needs. He could just tell us.â Roman whispered, a small smirk flicking on his lips as he felt his mateâs own careful knock on the humanâs mind. âWe canât know how heâll react to a mindlink if we donât give him a little stronger push--âÂ
Tap. Tap. Tap.Â
Roman cut off, breath catching in his throat as he felt a responding knock brush against his thoughts. Could it be?
Logan twitched, sitting up, his tail flicking into a question mark as another swirl of blue danced across his skin, his dark eyes lighting up. âRo?âÂ
He held up a hand to silence his mate, crouching down in front of the table to make eye contact with the human.Â
Virgil didnât flinch away this time, small hands clenching into fists as his purple eyes took on a brighter glow at the same moment Roman felt another tap tap tap at the edges of his mind.Â
âSHH!!â He hissed, well aware of how both their heart rates had skyrocketed. Their human was reaching out! He was attempting to communicate! He!Â
Roman drew in a shaky breath as he tilted his head, carefully sending out a tendril of thought towards the presence he could sense hovering just outside his mind and waited.Â
Waited for something to happen.Â
This could be their only chance at having their human reach out. Their only chance to finally establish--Â
Almost like the roll of thunder in the sky, anotherâs presence warily entered his mind forming a tentative connection. Then like the sound of waves breaking against the distance shore. He heard him.
Virgil simply watched as the spaceship landed, it was all he could do after all. He was still wrapping his head around what had happened. That Logan, someone he had considered his friend, was actually a giant alien and had kidnapped him from earth to take him to his own planet. Virgil placed his head in his hands, trying to keep the tears back. He had always hated the unknown and now the unknown was suddenly his whole life.
The ship jerked and Virgil flew to the side of the room, hitting the wall with a groan. He pushed himself away from the wall and looked out into the spaceship. Logan was still sitting but he was no longer pressing any buttons. Looking out the windows of the ship told Virgil that they had, in fact, landed.
Ready or not, he was about to face a world made for giants.
When Logan suddenly stood up and turned right toward him, Virgil flinched. Cowering into the corner, he was helpless as Logan moved towards him. âWe have arrived.â Loganâs booming voice stated, getting another flinch out of Virgil. Logan simply sighed as he saw this before pushing a button off to the side of Virgilâs prison.Â
Virgil braced himself, knowing the last time Logan had done that he had been grabbed. But instead of the windows opening, he felt himself being jerked forward. Looking around, he realized the small room had come out of the wall. Turning into an all-glass prison. Which was great for being able to see when Loganâs hands took hold of the sides and picked it up. Virgil had no choice but to stay in the middle, ignoring the hands on either side of him and the very long fall below.
Virgil watched as Logan began to walk towards the door in the back. A door that Virgil assumed led to the outside. And he was correct as the door opened for Logan automatically and they found themselves in a large room, light coming from a skylight above. People, giants, scattered around the room, all focused on different things. Including computers, each other, and...him.
Virgil scooted back, despite that putting him closer to Logan. At least Logan was a known threat. Semi-known, actually, considering he apparently knew nothing of his âfriendâ.Â
...Had they ever really been friends?
âLogan! Glad to see you made it back in one piece.â A man said, coming up to them and smiling at Logan. His gaze soon turned to Virgil, however. âAnd it looks like you brought that little human with ya after all!â
Virgil heard Logan sigh and he looked up to see the underside of a deadpan look. âYes, Remy, you were there during the video call. You already know this.â Turning back to the other giant, apparently named Remy, he was giving Logan a shrug.
âAnyway, boss man wants to see you. About your little human.â Virgil heard Logan sigh again.
âAlright, I suppose that is where I am headed next then. Thank you, Remy.â Remy did a mini salute before leaving them. Logan walked through another pair of doors, coming into an empty room. Logan paused, biting his lip.
Virgil then found himself being placed down on a crate, noticing that the room was full of them. He looked up at Logan with wariness in his eyes. Logan looked at him apologetically. âI am sorry about this Virgil but I donât think it would be good to take you with me. I will be right back though, I promise.â And with that Logan exited the room, leaving Virgil all alone.
Virgil pressed himself up against the back wall before sliding down and hugging his knees. Everything was moving too fast. And now he had to deal with the knowledge of multiple giants all in just the next room. It would be far too easy for them to come in and take him.Â
Virgil shifted positions and shoved his hands into his pockets before he froze. He grabbed something from his right pocket and brought it out, realizing quickly that it was his phone. Virgil simply stared at it for a moment before he felt a spark of hope. But he quickly pushed it back down. He was probably a thousand or so light-years away from earth, there was no way he had any signal here.
He unlocked his phone and looked at the top right corner. His eyes widened.
 He had a signal.Â
He doesnât know how but at the moment he didnât care. This was his chance! He quickly went into his contacts, glancing up every few seconds in case Logan or someone else came back. He scrolled through his contacts.
 His work? No.
 His parents? ...Yeah, definitely not.
Virgil tried to scroll down more before realizing that...that was basically it. All his other contacts were either of family he didnât talk to or old numbers from high school he got when he did projects that he never deleted.
There was no one that Virgil could actually call that would care that he was gone.
And, Virgil deflated as he realized, even if there was someone who cared about him, they would never believe him. And in the off chance that they did...there was nothing they could do.
Virgil turned his phone off and let the arm holding it fall limply to his side. Thatâs probably why Logan was so comfortable in taking him. Virgil himself had told him he didnât have anyone. Logan probably saw him as the perfect target to take back with him. A human that no one would miss.
He heard the door open, suddenly, and his head snapped up to meet eyes with Logan. He quickly looked back down, curling into himself. As Logan got closer, he could hear that he was muttering to himself. Something about âtoo much paperworkâ or something along those lines. Virgil watched, through his bangs, as Logan shook his head and stopped his muttering. He looked down at Virgil and Virgil looked down once again as well.
âAlright, time for us to go home,â Logan spoke and Virgil braced himself as his prison was once again lifted up. He tried to keep his eyes pointed to his lap as he was moved, but couldnât help but glance around him as they stepped outside.
Surprisingly, the outside reminded him a lot of earth. The sky was blue, the grass was green. He might think he was still on earth if it wasnât for the second sun in the sky. Virgil just barely glanced at it before he turned away. Too freaked out by it.
Virgil looked straight ahead, eyes widening when he saw what they were headed towards. It was obviously supposed to be some sort of vehicle, but it was no car. For one thing, it was more rounded with windows surrounding the entire top half of it. The second thing, was that it was floating a few inches off the ground...so, yeah. Virgil decided not to think about any of this too much. He had enough to deal with, being captured by a giant and all.
Logan opened the not car, which had a door in the back that lifted up, and got inside. He set Virgil down on the floor, because with a start, Virgil realized that there were no seats. Everything was floor. He also realized, looking around, that there was no steering wheel either. Just a bunch of buttons similar to what he saw in the spaceship.
Logan seemed to know what he was doing though as he immediately started pressing said buttons. The not car came to life and before Virgil could comprehend what was happening, they were moving.Â
The ride was silent, only filled by the buttons that Logan pressed. The ride itself wasnât that long though, as when what seemed like five minutes passed, the not car stopped. Virgil found his prison picked up once again as they exited the vehicle. Virgil looked up to see a fairly nice house. It looked like a lot of houses he had seen on earth but slightly off in a way that Virgil couldnât pinpoint.
He didnât get a chance to figure it out though as they quickly moved inside. âFinally, home at last.â Virgil heard Logan speak as he shut the door behind him. Virgil glanced around what he assumed to be the living room, taking in how similar but hi-tech it was.
He was placed on a table and that was when Logan started to speak. âAre you alright?â Logan started off with. But Virgil decided not to answer, instead pressing himself more into the corner and wrapping his arms around himself. Would he regret not answering?
He heard Logan sigh. âPlease Virgil, just talk to me.â Virgil wanted to laugh. Talk to him? How on eart-whatever planet they were on was he supposed to talk to him? He doubted Logan would even listen to a word he had to say.
âAlright then, weâll do things your way.â Virgil almost lifted his head at that but started to panic as he heard the door to his prison open. He braced himself for a hand to wrap around him, unable to do anything to stop it. But it never came. Instead, Logan spoke once more.
âThere. Now will you talk to me?â The voice was not booming like before though. That fact alone made Virgil lift his head, only to see Logan as he had originally known him. Human-sized.
âIt took some convincing, but they let me keep the watch. I figured it would come in handy in situations like this and it appears that I was right.â Logan continued to talk as Virgil slowly got himself up. He started towards him.
âI know you were thrown into all of this but really, I mean you no-!â Virgil cut Logan off with a hard punch to the face.
He watched as Logan stumbled back, hand covering the right side of his face, mostly near his eye. Virgil smirked in victory, the punch having felt great, but his smirk slowly dropped as he realized what he had just done.Â
Just because Logan was currently on level with a human, did not mean he was one. He was a giant and could turn back into one in under a minute. Virgil started to shake as he realized how much trouble he was probably in.
âI-I am so sorry, please, I wasnât thinking, I-â Virgil pulled at the hairs on his head, panic slowly overtaking him. âPlease, Iâm sorry, I didnât-â He was cut off.
âNo, itâs alright, I...I deserved it.â Virgil blinked, hands leaving his hair as he looked up at Logan. He was still human-sized, rubbing at the already forming bruise right underneath his eye.
âW-What?â Virgil asked, keeping his distance. Though he did feel more comfortable with Logan when he was like this. He could almost imagine they were just hanging out at one of their lunch dates. Almost.
âI have not been handling this situation as well as I would have liked.â Logan sighed, he took off and cleaned his glasses, which had just barely missed Virgilâs hit. âBut I would like to make up for that now. Please, ask me anything youâd like. Iâll do my best to answer.â
Virgil searched Loganâs eyes, gaze going down to the bruise he had left on Loganâs cheek. There were so many things Virgil wanted to ask, most having to do with why he had taken him of all people. But instead of asking that, Virgil found himself asking another kind of question. âWere we ever really friends?â
Loganâs eyes softened. âOf course, Virgil. I...Virgil, I truly mean you no harm. And you arenât a prisoner here either.â Logan answered, putting his glasses on with a slight wince.Â
âNot a prisoner? You kidnapped me! From earth! You took me away from my home, my life! Iâll admit it wasnât the best life but it was mine. And now Iâm stuck on an alien planet full of giants! Does that-does that not seem wrong to you?!â Virgil yelled, moving his arms in wild gestures. He couldnât believe Logan. If they really had been friends then why had Logan kidnapped him?!
He watched Logan carefully as Loganâs eyes widened before going sad. He looked down with another sigh. âI...I am sorry.â Virgil blinked, anger replaced by confusion.
 âWhat?â
Logan looked back up at him. âI...have just now realized I may have rushed into all of this without thinking. Like I had stated before, my mission was not to bring anyone back with me but to simply observe. But when I met you I...well, you fascinated me in more ways than you may think. I never âclickedâ so well with anyone before, not even those of my own kind. I considered you my-my best friend not long after first conversing with you. I wouldnât be on earth forever though and I slowly began to realize that I...I would not be able to leave you behind.â Logan explained before running a hand across his face, wincing as he forgot about his bruise. â...I should have at least spoken to you about it first. I am sorry.â
Virgil just stared at Logan as he processed everything he had just said. He brought his hands to his face, rubbing at it. âLoganâŠâ Could he say that he understood Loganâs actions? No. However, he could understand where Logan was coming from. âI was starting to consider you my best friend as well. My...only friend, really.â He watched as Logan smiled.
âSo you are saying you would have said yes if I would have asked?â Logan asked, eyes alight with hope. But they dimmed when Virgil shook his head.
âHonestly? I donât know. At this point I would have for sure said no but I donât know what I would have said if all this went differentlyâŠâ Virgil would have liked to say it would have been a for sure no but...given the choice, the prospect was intriguing.Â
âBut Virgil, I can provide you with everything! I know how much you hated your job and now you no longer have to work. Your home was less than ideal and now you have as much space as you could hope for along with technology humans have yet to think about! You will be well taken care of here.â Logan took a step towards Virgil but Virgil followed with a step back. Logan frowned at that.
â...You sound like Iâm some pet.â Virgil muttered, glaring at Logan. Loganâs eyes once again grew wide.
âNo! That isnât it at all!â Logan put his arms out in a form of surrender. âI see you as an equal-as a friend, Virgil. And as my friend I want nothing but the best for you. Which I can give to you here.â He motioned to his home around him before taking another cautious step forward. This time, Virgil didnât move back, which Logan seemed happy about.
âLogan, I...I canât. This world clearly wasnât meant for me. I know my life was sucky but I want to go back to it. Please.â Please donât keep me here.
Logan looked at him, searching his eyes. Eventually, he sighed. âI understand.â And with that, Logan turned around and walked right off the table.
âLogan?!â Virgilâs eyes went wide with a sudden panic and he started running towards the edge. But before he made it, a blurry shape rose up quickly. He stopped and looked up, seeing Logan as a giant once again. The human took several steps back as Logan looked down at him with sad eyes.
âPatton, call work.â Logan called out to the room. Virgil was confused and even more so as a bubbly voice spoke up, seemingly from nowhere.
âSure thing, Lo!â The voice said. There was then a ringing all throughout the house before another voice spoke up.
âHey, youâve got Remy on the line.â
Logan groaned. âRemy, why did you answer Thomasâ phone?âÂ
âHeâs currently out but I am more than capable with helping you out with whatever you need.â Logan looked to be getting frustrated.Â
âFine. I need to schedule another quick trip to earth as soon as possible.â Logan requested, causing hope to rise in Virgil. Logan was actually going to take him home.Â
Some typing echoed around the house. âSure thing, let me just pull up your file here...huh.â Logan blinked.
âWhat? Whatâs wrong?â Logan asked and they both heard Remy hum.
âSorry gurl but it looks like youâre no longer authorized to go down to Earth.â Both Logan and Virgilâs eyes widened.
âWhat do you mean?â Logan pressed.
âWell, according to the contract you signed for the mission, you were only authorized to go on this one trip to Earth. For liability or some crap, I donât know. Either way, going back to Earth is a no go, sorry.â Remy said nonchalantly. Â
Panic welled up within Virgil, so much so that he felt dizzy. He sat down before his legs gave out beneath him. Logan noticed this and quickly went to go end the call. âGoodbye Remy.âÂ
âHey, wait-â The call cut out and Logan to kneel near the table.
âVirgil, I am so sorry. I didnât know I wasnât able to go back to Earth, I-â
âRemy is trying to call back.â The bubbly voice from before, Patton, said. Logan groaned.
 âNot know Patton.â
âAlright, sending it to voicemail!â Logan turned back to Virgil, looking worried.
âVirgil?â Virgil took in a shaky breath, before looking up at Logan.
âWelp, looks like you got what you wanted. Iâm stuck here.â Virgil stood up on shaky legs and turned around. He headed to the only other place he could go. Back into the glass prison.
âVirgil, no I-â Virgil cut him off as he climbed inside and took a seat, back still facing Logan.
âJust...leave me alone.â Virgil mumbled. Afraid that talking any louder would cause the tears to flow. Logan stared at Virgil before nodding and standing up.
âAlright. I shall give you some time alone to...process, everything.â Logan walked towards his bedroom, sending one last glance to Virgil before disappearing from sight.
Notes: i think Virgil would be a lot more anxious about going to another planet, but i also think the loneliness would start to get to him after three years of being alone for so long. Â

Virgil and Logan were, in complete simplicity, were staring at each other.  Virgil still sat near his bed's headboard, while Logan sat at the edge of the bed, facing Virgil.  Logan blinked, opened his mouth to begin, and paused.  He continued to do this until Virgil spoke up.
âDude, are you trying to eat the air?â  Virgil said, a deadpan look on his face. Â
âWhat do you mean?â Logan asked, sounding genuinely curious.  Virgil rolled his eyes and mumbled something along the lines of ânevermindâ. Â
âI assume I should start on our species.â  Logan pronounced after a few moments of consideration.
  âUh, species?â
âYes.  I must ask you not to ask questions until the end.â Logan said pointedly.  Virgil opened his mouth before closing it and nodding.
âWe- you and I, along with your father, are a species called Teskains.  We live thousands of light-years away, but with our advanced technology, to Earthâs standards, we are able to get around quite quickly.  Comparatively, to Earth, of course.  Your father is one of the most important men in our sector.  His name is Emile Picani, along with his, uh,â Logan pauses for a moment before he lifts his left arm up and presses a button.  Virgil hears the click of a button as a hologram shows up.  The holograms look like glorified versions of flashcards, but for Earthâs terms.  Virgil raises an eyebrow but doesn't say anything.
âOh, yes, your father's boy-fri-end,â  Logan says as if he had never seen the word before.  Now that Virgil thinks about it, if what Logan is saying is true, then Logan probably hasnât seen much of Earth's languages.
â-Your father's boy-friend, his name is Remington King.  Despite his name, Remy is not a king.  If anyone was to be a king, it would be Dr. Picani.  Your father helped in keeping the peace between surrounding planets, even going as far as traveling to other peaceful planets to observe and learn about cultures and, of course, peace in itself.  On his travels, he was transported here for research purposes.  In the five years, he was here, he met a woman- your mother.  They fell hopelessly in love until she got pregnant.  She had known about his ancestry, but got upset, as at the time she had only just then finished what you call âcollegeâ.  She demanded that he leave you and her alone.  He wanted it to be your decision, so he gave your mother special pens so that if one wrote with them, they would block out any and all transmitters or DNA flags.â Â
âIn doing all of his hard work, albeit some diversions, he moved up in ranks, thus being under the king when the king died.  Emile took over the city and for the first time in 400 years, the city flourished.â  Logan sighed, taking off his glasses and rubbing his eyes before putting his glasses back on and continuing.  âYour father has wanted to meet you for so long now.  I may only be one hundred and thirty-one, and quite awkward when it comes to emotions, but I can see how much he misses you.  I know for a fact that heâd be ecstatic to meet you.  If youâll accompany me to Arteska, that is. Any questions.â
Virgil had been listening intently and had filed away questions as Logan was talking.  Virgil nodded.
âI have kinda a lot.  So, Iâm part alien?  Like some E.T. type shit?â  Virgil asked, moving his hands about in small gestures.  Logan nodded curtly.
âAnd my fatherâs like, some sort of rich, king... man?â
  âYes.â
âDo the people there look... human?â
âMostly.  Some Teskians have eyes like me, which Emile said humans have a small selection of colors and it is impossible to have eyes like mine.  Teskians have the same body figures as humans, all shapes and sizes, sometimes skin tones will vary.  Some have bioluminescent markings, but those only show up in intimate and quiet moments.  As an example, a quiet evening in with a friend, family or romantic partner.  Some have, for humans at least, unnatural hair colors that are natural for Teskians.  Other than that, they are the same other than small things.  You might exhibit those as well, as you are glamored.â
  âGlamored?  What's that?â
âBeing glamored means that there is a technology that protects your identity and fits the species around you.â
âOkay, one more question.  Just one... you said something about going to Artkestia?â
âArteska.  Pronounced Aur-tes-kuh.  And yes, as stated before, your father is desperate to meet you.  Remy would like to meet you too, if only for his boyfriend's sake.â  Logan answered. Â
âIf-â Virgil paused.  He needed some time to think.  He had stuff here on earth, like- like...
And at that moment, Virgil realized he was all alone.  A small speck in the universe.  Barely anything on earth and one thought filled his head, it had been there since Logan mentioned Arteska. Â
âWho would I be if I left this world behind?â Virgil thought. Â A small part of him wanted to stay. Â To stay where everything was normal, boring, and consistent. Â Virgil always liked consistency. Â âBut lately,â he thought. âLately, the normal and boring and consistent part isnât normal or boring or consistent anymore. Â It's... lonely.â Â
âIf I go if I go and I want to come back home, I can, right?â  Virgil asked, barely above a whisper.  Logan stopped for a moment and then decided to smile.  It was awkward and wobbly but it was there. Â
âIf you have any troubles on Arteska, you can tell me.  If it gets too much, tell me and we will figure it out together.  I am one of the most esteemed servants of the king for a reason.â  Logan said, with a hint of smugness.  He seemed proud of his title. Â
Virgil shook his head before asking, âIs that why he sent you?  Because he trusts you?â
âActually, he wanted to come to get you himself but there is a banquet for the upcoming holiday.  He needed to stay in homeworld to finish his duties as king before himself.  So he sent me.  He sent me because he knows me and he knows I can protect the both of us just fine.â  Logan finished.
Virgil hesitated for a moment, then it was two. Â
For your request of the Captured Sentence Starter! Maybe a combination of "You are such a marvelous creature, trapped in such a small little cell." And " I won't become some lab rat!"? Prisoner and captor of your choice obviously! (Tho if you *are* looking for suggestions for that too I'd suggest Virgil and Logan!) -đ
Logan crouched down in front of his newest subject. He studied the specimen curious, reaching forward to poke them in the back with his long finger. The subject yelped and tried to squirm away from Loganâs probing fingers. But the cage they were in was too small and the shirt the subject was wearing was too thin to offer any protection.
âYou are such a marvellous creature,â Logan whispered, taking hold of the subjectâs arm and squeezing it gently. The Human was trembling and trying to flinch away but whimpered when its elbow hit the cage. âAnd trapped in such a small little cell. Really, Human Hunters are so barbaric. Not to worry, weâll change that soon. Youâll be moved into a new facility soon, with a warm place to sleep in between resting.â
No need to scare the young Human more than they already were, after all. This whole experience must have been terrifying for them. Being stolen away from Human Hunters and taken from its home, flown away from Terran, and then paraded in front of potential buyers at a Human auction. The auction was broken up by the Galaxyâs Watchers before all the Humans could be brought. But, they were unable to stop the Hunters from killing most of the Humans before the Watchers could save them. This young one was the only survivor and Logan had been called to bring them back to his and his partnersâ center for observation.
It was all rather exciting, though Logan hated how it happened. No one knew much about Humans other than them having a small section of the Galaxy that they lived in. Many wanted to study them but it had been decided to observe them from afar with telescopes since there were laws in place from taking Humans from Terran to study. Loganâs Human was the first to be studied in a closed environment. Legally anyway.
The Human seemed to hate getting in Loganâs space ship, however. Humans were such nervous creatures. Barely dripping their toe in the ocean that was space.
âL-let me go,â the Human cried. Logan stood up to his full ten-foot height walked around to the front, brown eyes meeting glowing blue ones. The Human huddled in on themself and looked up at Logan through purple dyed bangs. Logan watched the Human, wishing that he could understand the strange and guttural words that the young one was saying. âI wonât become some lab rat! Y-you canât k-keep me here!â
Logan crouched down, still so much taller than the Human. âShush,â he said, reaching through the bars of the cage with his fingers and brushing back the Humanâs bangs. âHush now, little one. I canât understand what youâre saying, little Human.â He watched the Human carefully, noticing how the Human seemed to like the musical words of Loganâs speciesâ language. âHush. My partners are so excited when I told them that I was bringing a Human to our lab. Youâre not going to be hurt, I swear it. Youâll be treated kindly.â
He stood up and bared his teeth at the Human. Most species found this a friendly and welcoming gesture, Pattonâs species being a prime example. Patton bared his teeth at Logan all the time. Logan believed that it was called a smile. Something that was supposed to reassure the receiver of the smile.
The Human didnât seem reassured. Strange. Perhaps Logan had âsmiledâ wrong? Oh well. Patton would surely smile at the Human when Logan brought them to their center. Or Roman. Roman bared his teeth plenty. The two of them would surely reassure the Human.Â
Though, it would most certainly take plenty of baring of the teeth to calm the Human down. Logan could already tell that this Human was a skittish one. This would be an interesting observation, Logan knew. He couldnât wait to get started.
Basically, I want to write a long term multi-chapter story, as opposed to the one offs I usually write, but I canât decide what I should write. I have several ideas in mind, and Iâd like to put it up to public debate as to what I should write. Both of the options already have basic story outlines, I just canât decide which one I want to make, and I donât really want to do both simultaneously.
One one hand, Iâve been reading a lot (read: too much) of the work of @delimeful, @arc852, and @hiddendreamer67 lately, and Iâve been thinking about writing my own infinitessimal!sides au. What I have in mind would be essentially a mish-mash of Delimefulâs WIBAR au and Arc and Mandyâs Perspectives Series. Both are really amazing reads, I would highly recommend them to anyone interested, and reading them is what actually made me want to write my own story in the first place. I donât really have much more than the basic concept and some early plot down, so I donât know how long this one would be,Â
On the other hand, I was thinking I might write a story based wholly on characters I would myself create. This one would center around a group of humans who are trying to fight their way back to their home after being stolen and sold into slavery. The issue here would be that I donât really have a knack for writing characters in the first place (thereâs a reason that I wrote my angst story entirely in first person with nonspecific descriptions of the characters). I have a more refined outline for this story, and it would be around 14 chapters long, spread over 4 acts.
In either case I would write the story out before I begin posting, meaning I probably wouldnât start posting until at least around the end of the month, if not the new year. I would post one chapter every week, until the story is finished. In the mean time I would work on one offs and prompts, posting those as I finish them.
I would really like peopleâs input on this, if you donât mind telling me your thoughts on these ideas, please share them!
The creature looked around the glass container, situated in Lab 5. He stood up cautiously, a garment too large for him slipping from his shoulders slightly. He approached the glass and, after a moment of hesitation, tapped it. The resulting sound seemed to startle him despite being the cause (sound sensitivity?).
Logan closed his journal and looked at the specimen in the container. He sighed and stood up, walking to the creature. He seemed no more than 7 krells tall, Logan noted, and wore clothes that were seemingly typical of his species. What did they call themselves again? Humans, that was it. Logan sighed as he neared the human. He grabbed the keys for the container, wishing to see how he reacted to socialisation.
He unlocked the container and the sound made the human jump, further reinforcing Logan's hypothesis. Logan stepped closer to the human after locking the door behind him.
