An alien’s visit to the Impossible Things Exhibition
What is it about aliens that people hate? One would think that ever since the days of the Age of Enlightenment, the world and its inhabitants have gradually embraced openness, compassion, neighbourliness, and progressed in attaining rights for all sentient beings.
What I experienced last Wednesday was anything but.
Laa-laa, a yellow teletubby, a race of aliens known for their warm friendliness and childlike demeanour. The exhibitions’ organisers have trapped her in a box doomed to repeat the same dance-moves for food and water, all for their own amusement. Barbaric.
Stuffed remains of captured aliens, now placed around for mere ornamentation.
Perhaps it is linked to the resurgence of racism and tribalism in the world that led to the electing of the yellow-haired toads in two of the major countries in the world, but one thing is clear: while normal humans are free to roam about and experience the joys of participation and inclusion in the various activities (however weird they may be), aliens are frequently chased off property, abused, and ostracised, with violent signs of discrimination plastered around the campus to make that clear if it isn’t already.
Surely it is harder for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for an alien to partake in this exhibition without experiencing bigotry. Nay, the latter is an IMPOSSIBLE THING.
Is this the race that once elected Abraham Lincoln to be President of the United States? It is hardly recognisable. How they choose to glorify Lincoln, instead, is to use his ground up remains as powder to fight against fire, much of which is humanity’s own doing anyway.
Their burning of forests and natural resources of their fragile planet will likely soon usher in a great extinction that befell similar lofty and proud civilisations too far up their own arse, otherwise also known as the Great Filter.
Karma is a bitch.
An alien octopus dismantling the oppressive capitalist establishment.
