(1)do you (or your followers) know anything about a group called "Ontario Strong"? I got a(n automated?) text from them today that asked if I thought we should scrap the carbon tax. All I could find when I looked them up was a 2-paragraph bio from a website with literally nothing else on it, but that uses some serious dog-whistle type language - "we will always stand for the values that created ontario and still exist in ontario" and "ontario strong won't forget about or apologize for our roots"
(2)the full text i recieved read: "Hi, this is Sue from Ontario Strong. Do you agree that we must scrap the Carbon Tax? Respond: Yes No"

alienolives replied to your post “Hook a brother up and tell em where you got that brown flannel shirt...”
i mean, it's such a good shirt. i was there with you and /i'm/ low key mad at myself for not spotting it first :P
it’s a really good shirt!
also please do not take that invitation to steal it, you live in the same town and that’s more of a risk but i like it a lot
alienolives replied to your post “the more i read about biblical scholarship, the more i’m convinced...”
i mean as someone decidedly atheistic but raised in catholicism, finding out biblical literalism like, exists, was 100% a wild fuckin time
like... it’s just so fucking bizarre because like that’s how i grew up and i heard it all the time, like “it’s in the bible!” or “but the bible says [quotes verse]” as if they were answers to anything.
so nobody ever had satisfactory answers for me when i pointed out that either
a) by and large Christians, or the Christians I knew at least, didn’t do everything the Bible says (like I know a fair few divorced and/or remarried Christians), and we didn’t use oil to anoint people, and I knew precisely 1 (one) Christian woman who covered her head in church (and this is all New Testament stuff) etc etc. and
b) the Bible appears to contradict itself, like... a lot. like i’d read one NT passage that talks about grace and how we can’t be separated from God ever and our salvation is secure, then another about how if we don’t pray for forgiveness we will be separated from God and like..... those things are not the same. they’re not. they are actually opposites. but all I was ever told was “the Bible might appear to contradict itself on the surface, but actually if you really study and look into, it doesn’t contradict itself at all!”
like ???? okay....... so how are both things right, because to me they seem mutually exclusive lol
(1/2) for the anon who asked about pride/costs - most pride celebrations have a schedule of events available online that'll list everything that's going on, where, when, and how much it'll cost. remember, in many places pride isn't just a parade. what's on offer will vary based on the size of the city/town, but there can be free art exhibits, concerts, speakers, gatherings in the week/month leading up to the parade that you should feel free to take full advantage of!
(2/2) in my experience (admittedly in Ontario, not Alberta) the events that charge admission are usually the ones run by local businesses or hosted at clubs and bars, the more community oriented ones are free! and the parade is always free, if that's your deal :) (I think the smaller events are really the heart and soul of pride, and find the parade to be kind of corporate and alienating, but obviously your milage may vary)

1, 2, 29 for the ND ask game?
1) Most controversial game you like I actually like MED! Complete nonsense and all.
2) Most controversial game you don’t like Not sure I really have one? The games I really don't like are mostly the ones that are unpopular among the fandom for a reason. I think CUR is overhyped, but I don't flat-out dislike it.
29) Favourite way to stop a culprit Good old fashioned drop a big thing on them.
alienolives replied to your post “Hey, handsome, how's it been going? (Also, if you're feeling it,...”
