Do you ever think that maybe Dick felt a little more connected, or even maybe seen, with Damian because they both came from unfamiliar places. Like Jason and Tim both grew up in Gotham, they both understood the area and the leople and everything in it. Like Gotham is their /home,/ their people, the place they grew up, no matter how bad the circumstances.
But the first time Dick ever stepped foot into gotham was when his parents were killed. Do you think that like. Probably made him feel even more disconnected. In a city he'd never seen before, in a country he'd only traveled, in a place where he would never see his parents again. Like he would never be in the circus again and he would never travel the world again. (not in the same way. Not weight free like before.)
And like Damian had never been to gotham before he was essentially dumped on Bruces doorstep. In a country that only spoke his second language with a culture that could never line up with his own. Like he was literally raised for one thing specifically and the world around him doesn't even, couldn't even begin to, recognize that and the effects.
Do you think that they probably bonded over that? Over the shared disconnect from them and the very people they're supposed to protect? That they probably relate to each other on a much deeper level then most of the other batfam members could even begin to realize, that they are fundamentally different from Bruce and Jason and Tim. Because Gotham isnt /theirs./ Not in the same way it raised the rest.
