This coming Sunday, @yankees Legend Derek Jeter's #2 will be retired in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium. There are so many great moments in Jeter's career, but this one stands out for the Dessi family. My Father, Adrian Dessi who at the time was living with ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease was on the field to throw out the first pitch. Dad took the opportunity to chat with the Captain about how in 1979 he had witnessed Carl Yastrzemski hit his 3,000th and if Derek broke the record that day (which seemed unlikely) he would have witnessed 2 big leaguers break that legendary milestone. My brother @dessi8903 broke the tension with a quick thinking "no pressure!" Great moment. Also, after ALS eventually took my Father's life, Derek signed a photo of this moment for our family.
