I was born January 15th 2003, 4:09 am in Reykjavík, Iceland.
My parents were 21 and 22 at the brink of adulthood. They move two times and then they buy an apartment and live there for three years. I start kindergarten
It’s the summer of 2006 and my parents just broke up. They get 50/50 custody over me. I’m left unaware of the fact that every other week one of my parents is homeless.
It’s 2007 and I’ve just moved from my home. My dad moved two blocks down and my mom has moved downtown. I live with my mom one week and one with my dad. This goes on for a bit.
I’m four years old and I’ve just woken up alone. It’s four am and I feel like puking. My mom is drunk somewhere. She doesn’t come home until the next day. I learn a new word, alcoholic.
I’m still four years old and I’m just trying to sleep but I can’t. There’s a party in my apartment. I think I may have fallen asleep at some point but I wake up when a pair of strong, familiar arms and a voice wrap around me. It’s my dad. He’s taking me away from my mom. Appearantly a neighbor called him.
I don’t meet my mom for two years. My dad gets full custody over me. There’s not a lot I remember from this time. I saw my mom once when I was out with my dad. I called at her. She didn’t reply. I was heartbroken.
My mom went to rehab. She started drinking again. During that time I have a ballet recital that she promised to show up to. She didn’t. She was too drunk to come.
She goes back to rehab and is sober.
It’s 2009 and I’m six. I’ve just lost my first tooth and all I want to listen to is “real rock and roll”. I live with my dad and now I have a stepmom. I don’t like her an awful lot. I see my mom twice a month on a Monday after school.
I’m in second grade and I cry myself to sleep because my friends are skinny and I’m not. Eight years old.
I’m nine years old and I lash out at people. My teacher asks me if I’m on my period, not what’s wrong.
I’m ten and I can’t control my emotions. I get angry at everything and everyone. I yell and hurt people. I run out of class almost every day. Some teachers understand. Some don’t. One teacher in particular, my art teacher. She yelled back and hurt me. She didn’t care that I was only ten. She’s still a teacher. She never apologized and I never forgave her.
I’m eleven and all I want to do lay in my bed and eat while watching TV. I don’t want to talk to my friends. Nobody really wants to be my friend either way. I’m eleven I most likely have depression.
I’m twelve and I’ve just got my first crush. My “friends” tell him. He doesn’t like me back. I isolate myself even more. My best friend finds someone better to be friends with. I’m left alone.
I’m thirteen and I’ve just come out of the closet. I’m bisexual. I’ve always been different, but now I get bullied relentlessly by my ‘friends’. My whole class acts as though I’m just seeking attention. It’s hilarious to ask me embarrassing sexual questions. And of course I’m the resident emo. And a feminist.
I’m fourteen and I finally have friends that don’t make fun of me. We sort of lose contact.
It’s the summer of 2017 and my best friend doesn’t talk to me anymore. I’m alone the entire summer. I feel like shit all the time.
It’s the beginning of ninth grade and I’m careful to not talk about anything I like it could be made fun of for. I never do anything with my friends because we’re not close anymore.
I’ve just turned fifteen and I’ve been diagnosed with social anxiety. I’m fifteen and I can’t go to the store on my own or ask a question in class because I’m afraid.
I’m fifteen and the only place where I can be myself 100% is a weird website filled with other anxiety filled people that share my passions.
I’m fifteen and I just want to sleep. I just want a break. I want to listen to music and skateboard and cry. I’m fifteen and I’m a lesbian.
I’m fifteen and I feel hopeless.
Thank you all so much!
I just hit 300 followers! I'm so grateful for you all! Don't really know what to say but I'm just so happy and aww ily all sm <333 tysm guys!
Okay, so I usually don't rant or even talk on this blog, but I needed to get this off my chest. Why do I have to get flamed for referring to my father as 'Daddy'? He is my biological dad who raised his baby girl into a little girl into an adult. I have always called him daddy, because that is who he is. I know this community has been around longer than I have and that they have their right to do what they want, but I want to call my father 'daddy' without all the sexual problems that causes for the outside world. The relationship, a good healthy one, between a father and daughter is amazing and shouldn't be sexualized. However, that is exactly what people have done. People are sexualizing being a parent to a little girl. Can't anyone see how disgusting that is? I am not a little girl anymore, being an 18-year-old, but I will always be my daddy's baby. There is nothing sexual about that. So basically, why does daddy/little girl have to be sexual? It is a beautiful relationship when done right, so why did people have to turn it into a kink? Okay, rant over. Back to pretty pink things and little animals.
