I would love to see more of your take on alive!skulduggery. I love imagining what he'd be like if he had come back to life in Resurrection, I think he'd be real pretty (your art is great btw <3)

You’re in luck, my friend. Damn y’all, I am just pumping art out this week! You can tell when the quality is at its highest…👀 Wouldn’t have it any other way, though.

That doodle with him and Ghastly was just meant to be a Predator handshake but I thought “hey, they probably did a bit of arm wrestling to pass the time as stowaways” and I like it better, I have to say. (I like drawing muscles, maybe)

I wasn’t even going to think about hair or eye colour but I just went with red hair because come on the fandom practically made this canon, and I gave him some deep, brown eyes because I think it makes him look smoking hot.

There’s so many scenes from Resurrection I would loooove to draw (especially the scenes with corrupted Skug) so hold out guys, okay? For now I hope you like Val acting a fool and Skulduggery enjoying a big ol’ wrap.

Sad and in love Chindug vibes

bc. the bridgerton fake dating thing to attract a higher-status match gives me very china and skug vibes

especially the bit where they're like. bitching together about cressida and how cliche the prince is telling her her dress is pretty

and then he says exactly the same thing to daphne/china and simon/skug pulls a face and daphne/china just fucking explodes

and i just. have a lot of feelings about china disdaining the young man her family wants her to marry and lowkey using skug to a) rebel against her parents because he's on the wrong fucking side of the war and b) wade through the army of would-be suitors and try to find someone she actually likes who isnt easily intimidated

except whoops she actually likes skug this wasnt meant to happen

Fr tho like. I live for baby china discovering adolescent/YA rebellion and the absolute glee when she gets to glide into a ballroom in front of her parents and her intended suitor on the arm of a handsome heathen soldier with a more impressive title

And she falls for him and she believes he falls for her and she's got it very set in her head that he is Hers and of course one day he's gonna marry her and she'll get out from under her family's thumb for good! And they'll be happy

And maybe skug is still lowkey sleeping around with camp followers but thats okay! Her mother says all men go whoring. She'll just never bring it up and as long as he doesnt do it right under her nose and no servant girl brings a ginger bastard to China's doorstep, they'll work just as her mother and father did!

Except...skug gets hurt. And he meets Wifey, up to her elbows in blood in a field hospital, and he falls hard. And he detaches from china like she never meant anything bc skug is skug, and now she has to make her own way in the world because her family wont have her back after a heathen ruined her

And she plots and plots and plots revenge for years while they're fighting on opposite sides, she becomes fearsome and fiercely independent, gets in with mevolent and forms the diablerie and he rises through the ranks and becomes a general and a father and finally she springs her trap, thinking that with his wife and brat dead he'll be heartbroken and have nobody to turn to and she'll be there as a shoulder to cry on and he'll have to eat humble pie and come crawling back to her

And instead mevolent gives skug to serpine and she thought his friends wouldve come for him by now but he's getting weaker and she's never seen anyone survive injuries that bad and she cant intervene without risking her position and her life and finally she gets brave enough to sneak out to meet ghastly or ravel, tell them where they need to go and that it's urgent, hes dying

And then as she gets back to the castle she sees them fixing the bodies onto the pikes on the parapet and she knows they'll come too late and all she can think is what have i done

Headcanon:

Serpine hated Skulduggery because everything seemed to come so easy to him. Despite being a complete asshole he had friends, family, a wife and a child who all loved him dearly. His magic came naturnally and it was powerful. He was a natural leader and a naturnal fighter. People followed him, were eager to make him proud, to gain his acceptance. And in Serpine’s eyes he deserved none of it. Afterall, why should Skulduggery, that worthless heathen bastard, have an easy life where all he could dream of simply fell into his lap without any effort when Serpine had to work his hands bloody for all he had?

When Serpine tortured Skulduggery he didn’t wait for the killing blow to try his red right hand on Skulduggery. He’s way to impatient for that. Instead it was the first thing he did to him.

When Vile first joined Mevolents ranks NOBODY liked him. He talked too little and never took that armor off. Nobody knew where he had come from, he had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Something was off about him and everybody could feel it. People were wary of him and at unease whenever he was near.

When Vile was in a different camp there were many drunken debates about who Vile was and how he looked beneath the armor. Serpine was bothered enough by Vile’s anonymity that he went so far as to ask around in multiple necromancer temples if they knew anything about him (unsuccessfully). Mevolen was the only one that didn’t seem to care.

Serpine is low born.

Mevolent and Serpine were childhood friends with Mevolent being the older and the dominant child.

When Mevolent went away with the Unnamed to train, Serpine quickly surpassed his own master and made a fortune as an alchymist and inventor.

Serpine started out as an investor, but was coaxed into being his general by Mevolent. They stood side by side when Mevolent declared that the Church of the Faceless Ones would not back down to the sanctuaries. And thus the war started.

During the war Serpine and Nye worked together on a few projects despite despising each other.

In my China outfits we have Miss Sorrows the librarian and information collector,

Then my personal head canon of ranch mistress Sorrows, but come on let’s be honest, she has a collection of cowgirl boots. It’s canon (stares at DL) it’s canon.

Finally, we have China days after Skulduggery’s execution and burning.

She spent almost a week locked away before she was finally able to compose herself, of course she had come down with an awful stomach bug that was heavily contagious thus it was very unwise to risk seeing her as a servant to apply her makeup and hairdos, or even as a healer, she would simply have to figure out those cursed healing sigils. Even whilst she hadn’t eaten any food in 72 hours her retching (and wailing) continued and caused severe petechiae around her eyes.

She would simply stay put in her chambers, and if her servants risked a glance they might see her stood at her window, fixated on a field, where those executions had taken place all those days before.

And then the good news came: Dear darling Skulduggery lives!

A phenomenal return, he strode back a what… a living skeleton?

I love China, I truly do, but I don’t trust her and while her love for Skulduggery is endearing it’s eventually led to obsession, competition with his wife and, ultimately, his gruesome torture and death.

That being said, I’d bet she really didn’t want him dead. His wife on the other hand… it’s fair play I guess.

She bumps country music btw, no you can’t convince me otherwise.
