This was drawn for the VGenChallenge for March of 2026 with the theme "Wings". For the wings I used the Luna Moth and the Tolype Moth as reference.

I'm a bit rusty, so the sketch was way more of a struggle than it should have been (3 hours), but at least the rest of the drawing was smooth sailing. This took 16 hours in total btw which is way too long for a pic this simple. I feel like everyone draws 10 times waster than me TT_TT

This took more than double as long as I wanted it to take. I think it's because a lot of time was taken up by the background (even though it's simple!) and the armour rendering. At least this time, I was quicker with the hair.

I absolutely want to make this the year I learn to draw faster!

This is not his final design or final name (haven't figured out his surname yet) but I decided life is too short to wait until the design is finished before drawing my new OCs. Knowing myself, I will change the design a million more times either way ^^;

I started using the ClipStudioPaint's recording feature to watch myself draw and see what I can improve upon. This took about 8 hours and about half of it was spent on the hair, so I need to find a more effective was to draw hair, me thinks .3.

Happy Leadership Massacre Day!

A few hundred years ago today, Nefarian had a lot of fun!

And apparently he did something (again) on the anniversary. What is that thing? I have no idea! And neither has Mevolent, but he is about to find out!

Fixed up an old warm-up drawing using a Kibbitzer base that just screamed Mev/Nef for today, you can see that base in the corner.

I feel like my art style got more or less stable so want to try take a few art comms! Not a lot, so I will close those as soon as I feel overwhelmed.

By simple backgrounds I mean those geometry/gold designs and maybe some props.

Skulduggery Pleasant - 256fes Challenge

Every time I do this challenge I realize 256 triangles (for reference the last proper character I did had over 6k) is not enough, and yet I somehow end up doing this challenge about every two years any way. This time I couldn't even cheat with a skirt bc I was using a pre-established character RIP-

Another retro game mock-up bc... I still really want an SP game. This time I put in more of an effort to match the vibes of the early SP books instead of going down the chibi route like I did with Nefarian.

Done in Blender and Clip Studio Paint. The Skul for the icon is from the OG book 2 cover. The fire animation was done in Pixel Composer. And used the mosaic filter to pixelate the texture and make it more retro looking.

You may wonder why I did this, eventho I don't really like Skul as a character. Well, I got really inspired by this artwork by Lyadrielle, lost motivation half-way in, then finished it due to the sunken-cost fallacy and here we are.

Chibi China Sorrows!

Special thanks to our local China expert @skullandsorrows !

She has to endure me pestering her every time I have questions about China and helped me with the outfit. Without her I wouldn't have tried the green outfit which ended up being the final one.

I'm not gonna lie this was born out of pure spite bc Landy said the reason China got replaced with Scapegrace in the Skulduggery merch is bc she isn't as much fun which is such BS. I had SO much fun drawing her, I mean, look at her. What's not to love about our perfect Miss Sorrows?

Bc it's kinda not worth its own post, here is a glimpse into a better timeline where we got a China pin instead of a Scapegrace one.

Making Scapegrace part of the "Skulduggery Pleasant gang" is such a weird choice bc he was never part of the good guys gang apart from 5 seconds at the very end. I would prefer China, but I would get it if it was Fletcher instead. But Scapegrace doesn't belong there, and that's a hill I will die on. Scapegrace has his own gang, he belongs in a pin/merch pack with Thrasher/Gerald and Clarabelle.

As many I use Pinterest for photo ref for inspiration in creating side characters or background characters but more and more I am annoyed with those A.I generated ones. It's uncanny and creepy (not in the fun spooky way).

The best also is to visit the library and gather photos from random magazines or from your local journal and clothing ads by the mail. I usually hate those because of the ecological waste however they can be recycled in a scrapbooking journal (irl Pinterest board) or crafting papier maché art.

Nefarian Serpine [Pixel Chibi]

Trying out Blockbench with my fav test subject, Nefarian Serpine from the Skulduggery Pleasant series! Reimagined as a chibified video game character, perhaps for a DS or PlayStation game. We should have had an SP game between 2007 and 2010, preferably for the PS2 and no one can change my mind on that. He has 10/10 for attack and 3/10 for defence because Nef would absolutely be a glass canon type of character AKA hits hard but is taken out easily. He’s best paired with Baron for those much needed shield buffs! .3.
