I love this (now classic) moment of when Ian MacKaye went up to bat and articulated the importance of all-ages shows at venues (for music) and how having a ban on all-ages shows can deteriorate the quality of arts within communities. 

I am a firm believer in all-age shows because it’s just so much better for everybody.

A fine example to remind us that the essence of Punk is Intelligent & Compassionate.

In honor of the Kills playing Nashville tonight, here is the demo CD they sent to Indienet years ago when my roommate and I were booking shows there as a "job" that never actually paid us any money (@annihilatethispeej shared this pain before us). Anyway I think three people came out to this gig and @egcameron opened as one of the first Forget Cassette shows? Some of you new Nashville people may be surprised to hear this but before you all moved here most shows like this were lucky to have ten people in attendance but we kept at it and still held our breath waiting for all of you to arrive. Today has been so long but so worth it. TWY were amazing, Real Friends were awesome! And as usual Modern Baseball were total babes. The crowd was way too big and fucking rude tonight though. If the band is singing about being 26 and watching everyone he graduated with have kids and get married and being covered in stale beer and you're over here talking about how you have school tomorrow, please GTFO. You're too young for this music and this show. Also, what happened to excuse me? Or I'm sorry for bashing into you just now, or being conscious of short people. OR HELPING CROWD SURFERS I got nailed in the head and I was the only one trying to help the girl. All Ages show? Never again. Anyway, I'm dead. Night.
