X PAST X:

Despite being raised by a single father, and never really knowing his mother, Jake led a fairly normal life. He grew up in the suburbs, his father making enough to support the two of them comfortably. Growing up without a mother, Jake ended up fiercely independent. From money to love, Jake didn’t want to rely on anyone for anything. He wanted to make his own life, and be on his own. He has had very few actual relationships, but he likes it that way. He met his best friend, Liam, when they were freshman year roommates. Although complete opposites, the pair ended up getting along very well and complimented each other nicely. 

X PRESENT X:

Jake is currently a successful writer living in Malibu. He is still single, and not really looking to change that. He’s convinced that he prefers it that way. He lives comfortably with his dog, while keeping in close touch with his father and his old college roommate. Currently working on his next book, Jake spends a lot of his free time writing and finding inspiration in the little things. Lover of the beach, Jake plans to look for a home on the shore in the near future.

X PAST X:

The youngest of three, Kevin was always a shy, quiet kid. He was the one who would always prefer to be in the back with a book. He was friendly, so everyone loved him, but his quiet nature made it so he never had many friends. Not that he minded. He had his few friends, which included Zachary Roberts and his older brother Marcus, and that was more than enough for him. Unfortunately, when he was 16, Kevin’s older brother committed suicide. This loss crushed Kevin and sent him in a downwards spiral that took him two years to get himself out of.

X PRESENT X:

Now married to his high school sweetheart, Cori, Kevin is living his life in Malibu. He’s working as a neonatal/pediatric nurse at the local hospital. Although he still struggles with his mental health at times, he is generally healthy. Until he lost a patient to suicide recently.This brought back a lot of his issues in the past, and he feels as if he took several steps back in his life after this. However, with the help of his wife and his best friend, Zach, he is slowly getting better, and hopefully going back to his normal life soon, but not before he starts hallucinating his other brother again.

X PAST X:

Liam grew up in Ohio, with his twin sister, his mother, and a horribly abusive father. At the age of 14, his mother was finally able to leave, and they ran away to California, where they have been ever since. After high school, Liam stayed fairly close to home, getting his Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Biology and Biochemistry. After graduating, he went on to get his phd, working at a coffee shop to pay off his loans. While getting his phd, he met Genevieve. After introducing her to his octopus, and nervously asking her out, they eventually got married. And even though his past made him not want to have kids at first, the couple did end up having a baby girl, Iris.

X PRESENT X:

Liam works as a marine biology professor at one of the universities. And despite how passionate he is about his work, his life is at home with his wife and daughter. Although he initially didn’t want children, Iris is the apple of his eye, and has been since the moment he first held her. Liam would do everything in his power to keep her safe, even from himself. His fear of turning into his father made is constantly on his mind, and is often a source of argument between him and his wife.

After his wife suffered a miscarriage of their second child, Liam put all of his energy into making sure his wife and child were okay. Not that he was avoiding his feelings, he just put so much energy into making sure Gen was okay that he never got around to fully processing what he was feeling. He knows one day it will hit him, but for now, he will focus on his family.

X PAST X:

Dani was the poor little rich girl. She always had everything she could ever want, but was never truly happy. Her father, though loved her dearly, ran Norton Hotels, a multi-billion dollar hotel chain and was away from home constantly. Her trophy wife mother, never seemed to care all that much. As a result, Dani got validation anywhere she could, typically in meaningless relationships. One of those was with Gabe Desai, a pretty boy who was dating another girl. Dani knew being with Gabe would get her mother’s attention, so she set her sights on him. And after a bit of fighting she finally got him… and a child. Unfortunately, Gabe didn’t want a child at 17, so he left her, leaving Dani all alone raising her daughter, Annabeth

X PRESENT X:

Despite not having an actual father growing up, Beth did have Zach, Dani’s best friend, and more recently: lover. Dani is currently living with him and excitedly waiting for an engagement ring. Annabeth, now 7, excitedly calls Zach “Dad” and loves Wonder Woman and everything that sparkles. Although Dani’s personal life is going well for the first time in her life, her career is a bit all over the place. She works with her former enemy, Cori Cooper, for their styling company, but she is about to go back to college to get her business degree to eventually inherit Norton Hotels from her father.

X PAST X:

Leah has had a difficult life to say the least. She grew up with an incredibly abusive father, and, unfortunately, once they left, the problems didn’t stop for Leah. She was severely depressed, and couldn’t seem to control her own mind. She had trouble sleeping, she was withdrawn and depressed. Her sense of reality was warped, and was often paranoid over nothing. Her mother and brother had no idea what was going on. Figuring it had to do with the trauma she endured from her father, Leah—along with her brother—was put in therapy, where it was found that she had schizophrenia. The diagnosis was hard for 16 year old Leah, but trying to live a normal life was almost harder. She wanted nothing more than to be happy and normal like her peers at school were, but getting there was a mountain to climb.

X PRESENT X:

You would never know about Leah’s past just by looking at her. She’s an energetic, stubborn, bright young woman who wants nothing more than to be happy. She’s slowly, but surely getting there. Although it took her several years, a few breaks, and more than a few major changes, Leah finally got her college degree in computer science, and is now working for a small start up. For the first time in her life, Leah feels like she has stability, and that she can be well. At the moment, she’s not looking too much for a relationship, as she’s happy where she is in life, and she struggles to trust new people in her life, due to her past and her mental health issues. She knows it will happen eventually, but love isn’t at the top of her priority list.

X PAST X:

Genevieve had always been a hard working person with every task given, and school? Forget about it. It wasn’t until college and Med School that she actually broke a sweat, and even though this may be empowering, it didn’t leave much space for friends and boyfriends. Her first boyfriend being her current husband and she wouldn’t trade that for the world. Though reluctant at first, they had a beautiful daughter named Iris—she was certainly a surprise, but the most loved present in the Scogin household.

X PRESENT X:

The present has not been kind to Gen. She’s suffered a miscarriage due to the stress of a woman that would stalk her husband and her family; insecurities getting the best of her; grief; guilt from being depressed and not having the energy to do much with her family. It’s been a  rough present for the psychiatrist. However, she studied this, she’ll be okay… right?

X PAST X:

A Malibu native with a smile like a ray of sunshine, Kylie isn’t like your typical millennial. She was raised to understand and respect the value of the dollar. To clean up after herself, be kind to others, and most of all, self-respect. Though these traits are lovely, she finds it hard to keep a guy when she can keep it in her pants and he can’t. One too many heartbreaks have made the kind girl skeptical of love and she’s definitely not looking for it. However, being as kind as she is, Kylie isn’t opposed to friendships. She’s always loved making friends.  

X PRESENT X:

Going to school and working at a busy bakery is hard enough as it is, but when Kylie has free time she tends to volunteer her time at the animal shelter. Her love for animals making up for how lonely she can feel sometimes. Though she knows she can make it on her own, she wishes she could find someone with her same morals and ideology. Until then, she drowns her thoughts in baking and makes something beautiful out of her intense emotions.

Estranged from his twin brother, Zachary is a B list actor living his life lavishly with his long-term girlfriend Dani and their daughter Beth. Zach didn’t always plan to be an actor. He was actually well on his way to attending Med school at Stanford when he caught the acting bug and decided to drop out of school. Thankfully it worked out. He now strives artistically and has plenty of fun doing it too. Aside from his movies and television shows on Netflix, Zach is a closet singer and is secretly working on an album for his future fiancé Daniella as well as her daughter who he will adopt to be his own, Beth.

X PRESENT X:

Zachary’s over the moon with his love life and plans to propose soon, though it wasn’t always an easy road. Through confusion and a relationship he couldn’t bring himself to completely have his heart in it, the road to Dani was a long one. Even when she was by his side the entire time, Always in his reach, for they were best friends, and they didn’t realize how amazing their relationship could be romantically until later in life.

He now lives in a modern glass paneled and wood home a block away from Malibu beach and he couldn’t be happier to live with his small family. His mother is still close to him, his father deceased, and his twin brother Evan M.I.A due to conflict with his brother’s ex fiancé Jessica. Love makes you do crazy things, Zach always tells himself…he’s still waiting for his brother’s call to make amends. They haven’t spoken in four years.
